Singles - alternative artwork
Hi guys.
Thought you might be interested to see some artwork I've been working on. Basically I had the idea of creatign alternative artwork for old Prince singles. It's a bit of a labour lof love and will be an ongoign project (completeing more when I get time/ inspiration!).
I am pretty certain I am not infringing on any copyrights or anything (please let me know if anyione knows otherwise) - these are for FUN, and I would hope some of you would want to grab them for your own collections (handy for iTunes etc.) if you want a change!
You'll notice that they all follow themes, related by their parent album.

Oh, and you'll also notice I stick to original (mainly UK) track listings, with a few exceptions where I've added the odd track as a further b-side (these are my versions afterall!) | |

I like that artwork for The Arms Of Orion + Batdance a lot - COOL,
I can live without the rest/ I prefer those originally released..
Partyman is a fail, that artwork pic is from the Batdance music video, not Partyman.....

i like the Parade covers. except they need the "Paisley" logo, not the words "Paisley Park". that didnt change until the Batman album i believe. | |

Nicely done. As a graphic designer myself, I always prefer a more minimal approach. Ignore the one nitpicking comment from thedance (it's the same outfit P wore in the Pman video, and that pose is a perfect look/feel for this single). These are stellar.
One thing I did notice... wasn't everything P did for the Batman album released under the WB umbrella ONLY (no Paisley Park), because of WB's control/ownership of that whole project? Thought that was the reason why none of the Batman related singles never ended up on any P compilations. [Edited 2/21/12 9:32am] | |

Another intersting point! I'll have rework some of these, but that's why I'm glad I've finally started putting them up here so you fans can give me some solid input. And yes, I kinda ignored the Partyman comment. It's Prince in the 'Gemini' guise, which as far as I'm concerned would always be associated with Partyman.

I actually like the newer, spelled-out "Paisley Park" on your renderings.

It'd be interesting to see what you could work up with the Purple Rain and Around the world in a day era's being they are such busy artworks, i'd like to see what minimalistic approach you could give to them | |
