No Prince isnt obligated, but it's a slap in the face that he refuses to cooperate with his "former friends".

The man will jump on stage with Amy Winehouse, Macy Gray, Common, QTip, Stevie Wonder, Beyonce...whoever.

But when the folks that were there for him when he was starting out, who have not reached the level of notoriety that he has since he sent them on their way, practically beg him to throw them a bone - NOPE. He'll have dinner with you and maybe write a check to help you, but fuck the music and what the fans want. Why? Because he's not in total control?

WHAT THE FUCK???

THEY "WERE THERE FOR HIM" HE CHANGED THEIR LIFE AND TOOK THEM TO STELLAR STELLAR PLACES ON HIS PURPLE TAILCOAT

YOU COULD ANALYISE THIS POST AND SEE EVERYTHING THAT IS WRONG WITH THE ORG THESE DAYS

WHO GIVES A FLYING FUCK HE DIDNT SHOW UP-LET HIM DO WHAT HE WANTS..PRINCE HAS NEVER EVER LOOKED BACK

I saw a pic of Larry Graham backstage at the show. Personally saw John Blackwell at Sheila's show in LA back in 2000 whatever. There is no excuse whatsoever. Again...it's his prerogative, but it's still disrespectful.

That old Bill Maher "Get Over Yourself" award has never been more apropo.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest that maybe Prince has EARNED the right to move on. Fuck, can't the man do as he pleases like everyone else?

Well he still does try to live out past glories.

1st way he does it is that the majority of the 'hits' are songs he performed with the Revolution.

and there are a lot of examples of things Prince has done or does that pulls from those 'past glories'

i have to agree with the poster who pointed out the horrible collaborations prince WILL do .. like beyonce or andy allo or bria .. just pure crap .. yet he avoids the revolution

prince isnt moving on .. he plays the songs the revolution wrote all the time

prince is just afraid of how good it will sound if he plays with them .. pop .. there goes the illusion that prince is any good without a great band .. no need for crappy cover songs with the revolution .. except maybe a lil 'a case of u' thrown in

the revolution would sound fantastic on cuts from sign o the times or say a vicki waiting or money dont matter .. and of course .. that whole group from different revolution eras is what gave us that classic prince sound and style ..

prince blew off the 'we are the world' sessions .. i think that was a better choice than this .. jamming with his old supposed "friends" seems to be too much for the guy .. at least "we are the world" got 4 the tears in your eyes .. bobby just got dinner

its just lame of prince .. regardless of what is to be "expected" his genius has dropped to just plain stupid with his musical choices and the projects he deems worthy of his supposed musical genius ..

prince is no longer great and his previous genius is heavily in question due to his inability to produce the goods he once did while collaborating with other true talents .. the revolution reunion was a slap of reality prince fragile little ego couldn't handle ..

i think your talking slightly unfair nonesense...but i respect your opinion

objectivly i can only compare Pto miles davis in continously looking forward

of course he's fuckin human...playing hits hardly is tantamount to reliving past glories
