Cool...haven't got it yet...is it good?

let me answer: No. The new Kate Bush is not good.

I wish I could say yes. The new Kate Bush CD is boring like hell.

I bought the cd monday on the release. Listened to it 3-4 times then, will probably never listen to in again. Tracks are 8 to 14 minutes, way tooo loooong, and nothing happens, her voice and piano are ok, but otherwise, no melodies they are drowned - running way too long. After Aerial - Director's Cut and now 50 Words For Snow I think Kate Bush has lost her vibe. Unfortunately, cuz I really admirer the 1978-1989 albums.

Sorry for being off topic. smile

It's a bit of a grower, I was kind of ignoring it for the first half because it was like mood music, but I got into the second half, the Elton John track, the title track, and by the end I realised I was totally in to it, so immediately spun it through again, and now I love it. I wasn't ino Aerial at all, but I may go back and reappraise because of how much I'm digging 50 Words For Snow. smile

^ That's cool. I think most of her music is 'grower' music than having instant affection....but in the long run it makes the songs even more cherished perhaps...

I love it!

As a longtime die-hard fan, I somehow missed hearing the Original version. I never found it anywhere. But this new version is FUNKY - It's an old school joint 4 the new funk soldiers. Great production! Wow! Sweet!

Nope, that is not what I am saying at all. There is a difference between expressing your dislike of something or offering constructive criticism. But what i have read in just this particular thread alone does neither. It is just mean spirited and rude, which I don't get (but oh well). I just hope that all these ppl that bitch and critique his work the way that they do, are always 100% on point at everything that they do in life (doubt it). Bashing does not equal constructive criticism, especially over a song that you never paid him for (bootleg). That is all biggrin

if it wasn't for the bootlegs his legacy i belive wouldn't be keeping a lot of his fans around

That's absolutely true for me. I know I wouldn't be the fan I am/was if it wasn't for his unreleased studio outtakes and live material. It gave me a MUCH broader view of him as a musician than what his released product gives.

17 pages of commentary and not one single posting of the lyrics, which we all know have been changed, is VERY telling.

Just saying! hmmm

Well, I pointed out in another thread that the references to his parents are gone. I can understand why those lines would make him uncomfortable now.

As for the rape line, somehow I thought of this:

I guess Andy Allo is the opposite of Silent E. She can turn a rape into a rap. (Sorry, that's probably in bad taste.)

The Census Bureau estimates that there are 2,518 American Indians and Alaska Natives currently living in the city of Long Beach.

Finally heard it.

My verdict?

It's decent. It won't top the original but it's cool. I could've done without Andy though. lol

The ending minutes were the business.

Well... I bought the track off of Itunes and now I think it's even worse than I thought before. Some things are clear: This IS Prince's answer to O7. An attempt to update his classic sound with a modern twist. Only it's very poorly put together. Perhaps the laziest, most desperate release in Prince's career. Way too much sizzle, not a single ounce of steak.

The whole thing sounds like a tired retread.

This was just throwing some old skool synth stabs over an awful General Midi drumkit beat. Prince's vocals are just a series of bad twists and turns. Rap is about communication, not just wordplay, so that section is bad. Had he left Extraloveable out of it and written something new maybe it could have been better. The end is fairly tight, but not worth the trouble of the rest of the track.

I can't figure out why he deletes some lyrics and leaves some others. He leaves in a lot of racy lines, but deletes others leaving a silent gap in the track. Just like FutureSoulSong. Very poorly edited.

Honestly i was never into the original that much, im not all into the "vault" like every other Prince fan who somehow thinks there is vast amounts of classics in there, YES there are great songs in there, but there is also alot of crap in there too, there is reason it got shelved in the 80's and it always wasnt because WB didnt want more of his music to put out like many believe. My take on this song, nothing special then or now

Exactly. People have elevated bootleg vault tracks to some classic untouchable status and that is ridiculous. I don't see people clamoring for a remastered version of Big Tall Wall on here.

in all fairness, a lot of fans want remasterd versions of tracks that are legit releases. and there are classics in the vault that have been heard by a lot of people but sometimes we get instead all the midnights in the world lol

I've heard that before and I've also heard he's not in control of his masters yet, so the point is moot until he controls the ones you want to hear remastered. I've heard they revert in 30 years and 35 years but nobody seems to be sure which it is.

if they get remastered or not is fine with me but i would honestly be scared if he did remaster them, then have the lyrics changed or edited out for cursing
