I just downloaded the full version from U.S. iTunes and listened to it. Overall, I'd say it's worth the $1.29 I paid for it. (BTW, why does it cost more in U.S. dollars than it does in Canadian dollars?) I prefer the original version, but it was never one of my favorite outtakes anyway. I suspect that, if the old version had been released as a B-side in 1982 and this new version was on a bootleg, people might take a different attitude. I could live without the Care Bear/Elmo imagery, but it's better than the rape imagery in my opinion.

Interesting that Andy Allo is listed as a co-writer on the iTunes file. Is this because she came up with the rap?

I just played the two versions for my wife, who has no interest in the "old Prince vs. new Prince" debate. She said she likes the old version better. For whatever that's worth.

Hearing them back to back, I really dig the new version, it's got some serious funk in there. However I DO miss the guitar and simple energy of the old version. I DON'T miss the rape part.

I can't help but like the new version, however hard I've tried to dislike it!

I just think the new version is somewhat funkier, and I like it that the rockguitar has been replaced by synth stuff. And I like the Moog style bass that was used on the 2011 version. Injects a bit of a Zapp vibe to Prince's music.

I know some of you are ready to kill me now, but I wouldn't mind a complete album in this vain. Just funky pop music with an electronic vibe, and lyrics that are not so serious and/or boring like on most of his recent albums.

PS: I wish he kept the original Linndrum beat in the new version though. That would have made the track off the hook!

Nope, that is not what I am saying at all. There is a difference between expressing your dislike of something or offering constructive criticism. But what i have read in just this particular thread alone does neither. It is just mean spirited and rude, which I don't get (but oh well). I just hope that all these ppl that bitch and critique his work the way that they do, are always 100% on point at everything that they do in life (doubt it). Bashing does not equal constructive criticism, especially over a song that you never paid him for (bootleg). That is all
