this is the thing with prince.he has always been "it"in the early 80's he was the "it" guy of R&B.but he was almost like a R&B and Dance secret .besides I wanna be your lover pop audiences had no clue who he was,but the musically progressive did.

if any one you have ever noticed, pop music is dictated bye the underground scene(sounds and such).those that would be considered "dance " artists are the biggest pop stars in the world(measure the success of michael jackson[solo],janet and madonna with their impact on the dance charts.).bye 1982 prince had scored several R&B and dance hits, with Controversy being(still)one of the biggest dance hits ever.how else could that particular lp hit #21 ,go platinum and not even have a top 50 pop hit?but along comes 1999 .arguably the best dance lp ever.it was progressive(still is),a work of genius and ...a big hit.rolling stone named it lp of the year and Prince was the "it" guy..for pretty much the next 10 years.

his sound changed music and everyone..writers,artists,journalists paid close attention to what he was doing.Eric Clapton said something like "Music is safe as long as this guy still makes records,we all need to just follow along"or somethign to that nature.he is now a legend and todays taste makers are fans of his.todays artists make music that sounds like his.for example timberlake, his videos look like michaels..but his music sounds like prince.i mean futuresex/lovesounds,even down to the title has prince all over it.outkasts speakerbox/the love below..alot of andres side was a prince lp.tell me you dont hear i wanna be your lover when you hear california girls bye katy perry!

regardless if you all like artists like beiber, lil wayne, kanye west, beyonce, gaga, timbrlake, nicki manije or dance remixers or any other "a list " celebs right now the one thing they all do is gve prince his props.when the taste makers that are "it" right now say that your are "it" then that makes you cooler then the cool so yeah he is "IT".

unless he changes his name again he will always be "it".being so out of the current pop in scene right now has made him an underground maverick of sorts againhe may not sell platinum with every (new) release(hell who does these days),but he will sell out a tour quicker than any other asshole making music period regardless of how popular you are.so what does that tell ya

I agree with you Uuhson, those 16 year olds won't even know about Prince's music.

To young people these days, Prince is a dinosaurous, like The Beatles or something.

To me it's a great thing to be catagorised with The Beatles,

but for the young it's like saying Prince is a has been, he's old...... not worth listening to.

Sad, but this is how it is.

Prince if he liked him sooo much would have done the duet and went to his funeral, and wow how is mj not , NOT , creepy ,?? Theres a difference between being nice and liking someone , prince was laughing at mj during his lovesexy tour . And as far as im concerned mj was a song and dance man , and prince is u true musician

how old are you? because from the way you are acting i would say at most 12.

and as far as being creepy, ill have you know that i invited friends over 2 weekends ago (6 girls and 4 boys) and we watched purple rain. and they thought prince was the scariest, creepiest, uglyiest, wierdest, person they have ever seen, and "prince was laughing at mj during his love sexy tour?" why? because michael was on the bad world tour which became one of the most sucessful tours in music history?

and where are you facts? cause that sounds like a load of shit to me..

and as far as the funeral goes.. ONCE AGAIN... LIZ TAYLOR, michael jacksons BEST FRIEND, was not there...

and why are you trying to make this into a mj prince debate when NO ONE was trying to do that.

wink I don't get it when people do this either. Prince is well known and when most young people see him REALLY perform they love him. All this comparison crap to MJ is generally filled with some of the most ridiculous and impossible EXAGERATIONS EVER! I see it on YT all the time and most of these people sound like they're from another planet or on drugs or something. It's like they compare MJ the GOD Himself now. Pretty sick if you ask me. But Prince is very successful and will always be remembered as a great talent. The younger audience just needs exposure to his earlier perfomances--the things that made Prince great. Something they'll never get from this TRASH they call music nowadays. Yes his includes refuse like Justin Bier, etc. lol

To the music press and music aficionados Prince has been "it" since he came on the scene. But to just average kids of whatever generation, they will gravitate towards the fad of the day for their own age group. That's the way it is. That's the way it's always been.

The people that "know" about greatness, "know" about Prince. Those than consume whatever is readily available and presently "popular," probably not.

exactly, i love them both, and i feel like you CANT compare them because they are so different from each other.. but i believe (and i dont like saying this) but when that day comes that prince passes, prince will be on the news..his music videos will be all over the place.. his music will be played constantly, kinda like what happened after MJ passed. and i believe that younger generations will get to really discover prince.. so as far as prince's legacy, i believe he will go down in histroy as one of the greatest musicians of all time.

but like you said, the younger generation for the most part really dont know anything other than what is mainstreem right now, (gaga, katy perry, justin bieber, etc..)

but just to put this arguement to rest.. Michael and Prince are both 2 of the greatest artist of all time... no more debating.

Why must one like one or another? It doesn't matter. For the record I do like MJ From Bad back to the J5 years.

99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment

Blame the media. The only pictures you'll ever find of MJ in a amgazine are ones like this. Not ones taken around the same time where he actually looked good. Yes MJ should have stopped on the surgery but he was very beautiful throughout his life. Even towards the end. Like South Park would say "You're just being ignorant" lol

so mutilating your face with plastic surgery and chemicals = exposing parts of your body? who taught you all to be so ashamed of sex/your bodies? its a shame

edit: if a woman posed in either of those above pictures, it would be completely acceptable. if a woman decided to butcher and acid wash her face she would still look like a freak
