Condorcet Album Poll: Come

This is the next installment in a series of polls ranking the songs on each album officially released by Prince or O+>. The goal of this project is to determine which tracks should be included in a final poll to determine the overall top 25 Prince songs in the opinion of his fans.

For those of you who haven’t been following the polls, these are different than the usual “best song” threads in that they combine the preferences of all the voters into an overall list.

I am going through these in the same order that they were ranked in the earlier poll of the best Prince albums. Now's the time of Come. Only 9 songs to rank: I've decided not to consider Vanity's moans a proper song...

Please don’t discuss the preliminary results or campaign for your favorite song(s) until the poll is closed. I plan to close the poll on Tuesday, but I may close it early if the preliminary results are discussed on this site. This is to make sure the poll is as accurate as possible.

In the original post I always tell not to do it, since it can lead to strategic voting. Otherwise the poll shall be closed.

The problem is that you don't want a whole bunch of people to vote for or against a particular song just because they think it's underranked in the poll. There are a lot of people who read these posts but don't actually vote; however, if their favorite song is perceived to be the underdog, they might jump in and vote, thus skewing the results. That's just an inherent difficulty with conducting an anonymous poll on the Internet.

"Space" is the ULTIMATE jam from this album. I have the Japanese maxi-single with the acoustic version and all the remixes, it's one of my favorite items in my collection

Come is the best track on Come, hands down imo.

Letitgo and Space are on the same level to me.

So, the poll is over. Come, the song, has won, as many of us expected. It's not my favourite, though; I prefer Space. Second place for Pheromone, and the two singles, Letitgo and Space, are tied in the third place.

Stay tuned for the next poll: Prince (1979).

I guess Prince's acapella effort doesn't have a lot of fans.

I don't get it. "Come" is 11 minutes long, rather uninspired and repeats the word "come" about 130 times. How that rated above "Phereomone," "Space" and "Dark" is beyond me.
