Dump- That Skinny Motherfucker With The High Voice

Prince covers album by James Mcknew of indie rock legends Yo La Tengo is here: http://p-l-m.blogspot.com...-high.html

I don't actually know if the download link works because I got it somewhere else, but it's a fantastic record. I've listened to it at least once a week for the last six months.

I went to see Yo La Tengo a few weeks ago on their "spinning wheel" tour, and the support band was a set by Dump (who for those of you who don't know are basically Yo La Tengo under another name).

They played a few songs and ended with a very good version of The Beautiful Ones complete with falsetto vocals.

Harlepolis

Love their version of "When You Were Mine", very Phil Spectoresque.

Oh, goddamnit. I'm jealous. I'm not much of a Yo La Tengo fan, but I reviewed one of their shows last Febuary. Ian Kaplan is an amazing guitairist, and I'd love to see him shred on that song.

There was very little guitar shredding during the Dump set, but the Yo La Tengo set was amazing, I was surprised, they rocked and were very loud which is something you don't really expect when listening to the majority of their studio material.

And yes Ian is a great guitarist.

Here's my YLT review: http://blog.kexp.org/blog...arket-217/

Thanks.

Just read this, sounds like you had as good a time as I did. "Mangle" is a good word to decribe Ians guitar playing.

lol

I wonder if he's on the Org? Beautiful Ones is my favorite on this record. I bought it when it first came out, and have turned many on to it. Great tribute.
