Letitgo, yay or nay?

This the jam people. Great pop song, plus it is really funky. This is him coming to close to MJ with the dance vibe.

The lyrics were fairly honest at the time, which he rarely is. Just a great tune.

All you others say Hell Yea!! woot!

There's a very subtle synth string line way down in the mix that I like best. (It's maybe most audible in the few seconds of the intro, if I recall correctly.) The rest of it is OK, I guess. shrug I like the rest of the album much more.

Yeah, it's not a bad track. One of the better ones on the album. Love the at early 90s 'mid-tempo-phat-beat' thing that he was into at that time.

I find it really interesting how in the song "Space" he sings "I never been one to hide my feelings", and then a few tracks later in "Letitgo" he sings "All my life I've kept my feelings deep inside". Crazy ol' Prince is a bundle of contradictions for sure lol

Like this song a lot (kinda explains the Org moniker). Not a top 10 favorite of all time neccessarily but I like the vibe of the song. I like the lyrics a lot which was one of Prince's most honest self-assessments on his tendency to occasionally come off as somewhat prick-like (in the same genre, In This Bed Eye Scream) and that he was going to try to be a better man. Hard to believe this song is 17 years old...like many Prince songs I remember the first time I heard it on the radio.

All good things they say never last...

I love the feel of the song and the meaning behind it...but something about the lyrics doesn't quite tick all the boxes for me

The Sherm Stick Mixes are stellar. One of the best Prince jams of the 90s.

I only really started liking this when I heard it live in 95, I also find it has an interesting sexual undertone in terms of the title...Listening to BAD from U2 at Glasto, I noticed that the letitgo is a prominent feature of that song, wonder if P nicked from there

If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

It's not bad, but given that he just had a worldwide hit with TMBGITW and a series of strong singles from the symbol album 1 1/2 years earlier, it was pretty much a very predictable take on standard mid-90s R'n'B stuff. Those who complain about "Emancipation" for Prince imitating R Kelly and the likes should probably listen to "Letitgo" again.

if Letitgo back then had a real (good) music video, it might had been a hit for him.

Unfortunately he did not make that video, (only compilation clips from other videos)............

and Letitgo did not make it to the charts.

- the same thing with Space = no video..

sad
