Is Wonderful Ass P's best song?

When it all boils down, it's at least very close.

Well, it's up there.

I think it's one of the "hits" of the out-takes, so for a long time I totally ignored it, or to say I'd 'got over it' because it's a big, well known track - but the Box of Chocolates boot last year or whenever was the first time I'd properly listened to it in years, and I fell in love again.

A lot of non-fans and casual listeners I know dug that boot BTW, and that song in particular.

Its a very good enjoyable song, however its neither groundbreaking nor lyrically brilliant, so no, its not his best song. I like it but its not any better then say Sticky Like Glue.

Oh, it trumps Sticky Like Glue in spades.

WA is him near the apex, not quite, but it's the absolute bridge between 1999 and PR. But the fact that instead it's PR crunked makes it above and beyond.

Like the best of his both worlds solidified.

Not even close.

I know a lot of people love it, but I've always thought this song was highly overrated.

Oh, yeah, well you're highly overrated! razz

I absolutely love it but I don't think it can be called his best song. Certainly it's good enough to warrant an official release .

it comes from my favorite prince era and it has all the elements a good prince

tune usually has but there's just something about it that irks me.

i can't put my finger on it, but i can't even remember how many times i put it

on thinking "and now i'm gonna listen again and it's gonna click and i'm going

to love this song" but i never do. most of the times i just skip it before it's got

the chance to end.

it's just a weird song for me. i like it, but then i don't. that bugs me lol

and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

This was my exact reaction upon obtaining and hearing that song for the first time (after hearing people rave about it for years)...

excited confuse pout

And how can you know... if nobody is looking? lol

On a side note, I have to say I'd love to be explained the reason for this kind of threads.

The OP thinks it's Prince's best song? OK, so be it. Nothing can be argued about PERSONAL tastes.

That's why I'm clueless as to why a question like this is asked... neutral

BTW, I've always loved this song since first listen. But not even close to his 'best' songs (according to my personal taste). I especially love version #1, which is Prince's 1983 raw demo and of which we only have a snippet circulating and in awful quality.

I think the lyrics are brilliant, the subject matter and being tongue n cheek, he's anylizing someone and being anylized, and it still come down to her having a wonderful ass

Definately not his best, but it's a good song. If released would have done very well on the charts,

the lyrics are very interesting the music is dancible and has a nice flow, with the Prince sound it's fun.

Among the hits i can understand any of the following being called Prince's best song: WDC, I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man, Sign of the times, Purple Rain, Kiss, Rasperry Beret, 1999, Little Red Corvette, 7 etc

Among the non hits i can see any of the following being called his best song: She's Always in My Hair, 17 Days, Erotic City, Mountains, Computer Blue, If I Was your Girlfriend etc

I can understand if any of the above songs are called Prince's best song. And ofcourse there are other candidates too. But i still stand by what i said about Wonderful Ass, its a fun and catchy song, but i dont find it brilliant like the songs i listed above. Yes it may have been a hit on the radio, its a good song but not brilliant.

Actually in a mellow way that is what the lyrics are about. How 2 people anylize and try to figure each other out...

But you don't like the songs so your gonna try and start something

But if your in an argumentaive mood, ... not with me darlin

U do not understand my quirky ways
My crazy logic leaves U in a daze
U think my neurosis is just a phase

U think that all my friends are my bedmates
True love before sex U just can't relate
My sensibilities U aggravate

Listen...
Educate, tolerate, negotiate, communicate
Litigate, graduate, appreciate, separate
Interrogate, violate, fluctuate, perpetrate
Masturbate, stimulate, stimulate, stimulate...

U say that U love me, it don't do no good
U want me 2 trust U, I wish that I could
U cannot build a house with plastic wood
U've got a wonderful ass

I guess what it is is that I hate your ideas of fun (Oh yeah?)
But baby I rate your ass number one
I don't usually have time 2 drink from your glass
But I can always find time 4 your ass
