I need something funky, consistent on creativity. Mixed in live concert songs that are re-engineered for the CD. I'd like some rock fusion. I'd like a couple of R&B baby making slow jams. I want him to think out the order of the tracks.

It only needs to be about 10 tracks. But, I want him to really spend some time getting the funk and the rock right with some great lyrics. "Calhoun Square" meets "Dreamer" with some "Future Soul Song" and "The Dance." If he has to do a cover then make it as interesting as "Crimson and Clover."

I want some air play not for Prince, necessarily, but for all those who doubted that at 52 that he's lost a step. I want SoundScan to eff itself with so much airplay for a couple of the singles that the singers that are passing for artists these days will retire after their one hit wonder. I want children of THIS generation to KNOW beyond a shadow of a doubt that Prince is and always will be the MAN!

Is this too much to ask from the next project?

I'll be waiting!

Get the funk up!

Creative synergy with the beforehand mentioned challenging musically and lyrically content. I don't want an auto pilot CD.

99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment

something that doesn't mostly suck would be great.

The expanded version of my book PRINCE and The Purple Rain Era Studio Sessions 1983-1984 was released in November 2018. (www.amazon.com/gp/product/1538114623/ref=dbs_a_def_rwt_bibl_vppi_i0) or www.facebook.com/groups/1...104195943/

My wishes (err, hopes maybe) are different. I'm hoping that the next album will be distributed and promoted by an actual record company (be it huge or tiny) and released around the world on as close to the same day as possible. Announce it a month or two ahead of time. Release a REAL single with a b-side. Get people excited and make it an event. That's been missing since Musicology.

since he's started to revisit his own past sounds in recent years i'd like him to follow

his own past release schedule and now release an album not like controversy/1999,

but instead move on to a re-invention of his "purple rain/around the world in a day"

sound. more guitars, more reverb, more off-center funk and weirdness.

if he's gonna go and do something 'new', just a good mix between hard funk tunes

that stretch out to 6 or 7 minutes, peppered with some pop and rock.

a double disc would be nice. he could incorporate many ideas into an album and not

be limited to just 1 disc. he's never intentionally released a double DISC album and

it'd be interesting to see how he would execute that.

you might argue that lotus/mpls was a double disc but really it's just to different cds

sold together.

if he hadn't released 3121 or planet earth or occasional songs like FUNK on their own

but instead chosen to lay low for a few years and gather all that stuff onto a double

disc album [not all that stuff, just the best of it], it would have made for a very, very,

very good 2 disc set.

but at the end of the day, i'll take any new music. just hoping he'll find some way to

release a bit more this year. 1 album just isn't enough, lol.

Maybe a rough demo with guitars, keyboards, & synths! (same method used for the Dirty Mind album)

Let's see what comes from that cool

Agree...

I just don't want it to be "released" like his last few songs - streaming from some radio's website.

Include it in a cohesive album.

And release it in America.

An Official full cd release of songs from the vault. Dating back to the beginning of his career. The fans want the raw cutting edge Prince we all once knew and love!! He's tried everything else since his departure from Warner's! The sooner he realizes the genius in these gems and channels back the energies of the days of wild the better off he'll be musically that is! Period.

Why, because of Black Sweat? I still don't think that album had a simultaneous worldwide release (or b-sides). Pretty sure Musicology didn't, either (well, it had some unofficial b-sides), but I honestly don't remember. My point is just, do it big! Do it in a way that APPROACHES something everybody understands and can participate in. Release a single with a real b-side a couple months ahead of time. Preferably on CD and vinyl, as well as digitally. Work with a label (big or small) that is willing to promote and build support for an album over the long haul, rather than one that's willing to pay whatever fee it is he's apparently decided an album is worth. Don't create a slow, overpriced website based around the album that pisses people off and gives them something to talk about other than the music. And don't make comments that purposely turn people off and give them something to talk about other than the music shortly before it's released. In other words, make us believe that you actually care about the album. Because that goes a long way towards making me care about it.

Forget about it. I mean, no chance in hell. Prince is not looking for big promotion anymore. At this point of his career, I believe he only cares about the music, not sales, high praise or even fan support. He's still releasing new albums, yes, but he's semi-retired. By semi-retired I mean: competent (but uneven) new albums released independently (at least since PE) and limited tours. That's about it. He doesn't care if people illegally download his new albums. And that's why, probably, he's not obsessed with youtube anymore...

My wish... His alter ego, the "bad boy, Bob George" should be set loose again. With insane bottom grooves, pumping, and raw, tight music on top. Be bold, as he has been with lyricks always. And finaly release a track on album, that really bring out his most excelent gitar exercises. Like all the times you wish it was as raw and genial on the record as you sometimes hear he do live. I could do with an album not broke up by a totaly soft piano, or likewise song, that breaks the feeling of the album. Do an album with those instead, I by it :p

I wish he also followed up with a more personal aproach like Lisa and Wendy did. Perhaps with a tour online book, with the band, and him self on a good day. Tape some snippets from rehersals on vid, and post some of it as teasers.

But, Internet is dead, so .... sad

Dude. It was my wish. lol I wasn't really looking to defend something I'm hoping will happen. However, I completely disagree with 3/4 (at least) of what you said. It's not about the music at all - it's clearly about the money. If it was about the music there's a ton of succesful indie labels that would love to release the next Prince album. But they can't pay him as much as a one album major label or periodical distribution deal can (and probably can't pay him up front at all - he'd actually have to work the album with them). The "tours"? Without actually touring he has minimal overhead, so he makes more money with less work. Stay in one huge population center and he sells more tickets. And he does without doing anything to promote the show other than announce the tickets are for sale. That "charity" super bowl gig? Please. lol It's all about money. I'm WISHING it was still about the music.
