It's ok, i'm not a big fan of the very early stuff unless it's instrumental.

In saying that, i would not turn down a pristine copy of the song.

wink

I love all of his earlier music. This one's a good one, and I believe it's actually a more rare one, too. It's a good track.

It's a decent song. I love listening to the Moonsound and Sound 80 sessions. It's just interesting to see his early work and how he developed.

Great track. Reminiscent of a lot of his earlier work. Probably would have been big for him back then. Taja Sevelle did a good job with it as well.

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

Yeah, witch version? Prince re-recorded the song several times. One from 1976, 1978 and 1987.

The one from 1978 is the best one.

Some people think I'm kinda cute
But that don't compute when it comes 2 Y-O-U.

I love the verison from the 1987 one but I dont think that verison was directly performed by Prince himself. It was one of his proteges at the time that performed the song. But that verison is wonderful and its cute! love Idk, which verison with the 1976/78 verison but Im gonna go ahead and assume that its the 1976 verison. lol lol

Well it's easy to tell. The 1976 version is just acoustic guitar and vocals. And the 1978 version is full out music. funky bass line, and keys ect.

The early and the '87 are both great, although i hate that have them in such bad sound quality.

I love Taja Sevelle's version too, she has a great voice, probably one of the best of all his prodigys (beside Jill Jones). It's a shame her career didn't take off...love is contagious was always my jam.

Hmmm....yeah, Taja's version is great...her voice and the harder hitting funk bass...although Prince has a sweet falsetto in the earlier versions...

'Love is contagious'...that song just doesn't age...

Rumor has it that Prince offered this track to MJ but he rejected it.

I can't understand why the mofo objected to the song: had he used it there'd be at least a good track on the 'Bad' album.

I heard that too. Probably he rejected it to get back at him from rejecting Bad. lol

I think it was maybe a bit too "naive" for Bad, and that it's the reason why it was rejected (amongst dozens of other MJ songs if the rumors are true). I mean Michael spent his whole career trying to look "bad" (kids friendly but not your average Kenny Rogers if u see what i mean)...

Besides, a duet was one thing, but having P compose a song for MJ? I don't think so: it would have shaken Michael's stature as THE superstar. Madonna did the same: she agreed on a duet but didn't ask him for a song.
