Why only 4 of Prince's songs come on the radio

These are the Prince songs I hear EVERYDAY on the radio and have been hearing since I was 5 years old. I Wanna B Your Lover. Kiss. When Doves Cry. Adore. Soft and Wet. Why can't we hear anything different than these songs. He obviously has other hits but do they play these like they're his only good songs. And I'm talking about fm radio. Not so much pop stations but R&B, Variety and Rock Stations.

You're doing better than most. I bet a lot of people here have never heard I Wanna Be Your Lover, Adore, or Soft and Wet.

It's usually When Doves Cry, Kiss, Raspberry Beret, Little Red Corvette, 1999 and Let's Go Crazy for most people.

Depends on what station you listen to....I'm a scanner; scan the stations to see what's on. KBLX-the Quiet Storm plays a variety of his songs; such as: Here on Earth, Adore, Future Baby Mama, Call My Name, If I Was Ur Girlfriend, and maybe a one-off every now and then. Other stations play: 1999, When Doves Cry, Kiss, Let's Go Crazy, Purple Rain, and Little Red Corvette.

I get what you're sayin'. These are considered his most main stream hits. The tunes that the average listener will bop their head to or karaoke their way through the song and reminisce about times during that era. There may be a more political answer but I'll leave that to those who may speak matter 'o fact.

btw: you listed 5 songs smile

Mostly because your radio station is owned and programmed by a clueless coropration which intends to tell you what you will like.

Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it.

Mainstream radio always play the most obvious stuff... For example I also like The Jam, they had like 18 hit singles in 5 years but the radio usually plays the same 3 singles.

I know a station that plays 24 hours of Prince bootlegs, rehersals, live recordings etc on special occasions. (Prince's Birthday, New Years Eve) It's WBAI 99.5. NYC I honestly don't know if they do it anymore. The hosts are on every other Saturday night I believe and they do different topics on their broadcasts but on special occasions as I said, they play commercial free Prince. That's where I heard songs like Soul Psycadelicide, Dream Factory and live recordings from NYC venus such as Roseland Ballroom and BB Kings. I used to have recordings of Prince @ The Roseland performance with Doug E. Fresh and it came from this listner sponsered radio station.

As for mainstream radio...You have to scan (this is how I discoverd WBAI) I know that at certian times on R&B stations they will play "rare" songs that aren't played by other radio stations. Other stations will play "Little Red Corvette" 'til their dying day while on a speical mix night a DJ might play the extended version of Pop Life or Erotic City...

Anyhow, it just depends on the station and DJ. But, you're better off scanning. Don't get your hopes up on a particular radio station bustin' out with some craziness like "7" or "D.M.S.R." It ain't gonna happen. (Depending where you are) The last time I heard D.M.S.R. on the radio was 1993.... in Florida. *smh*

With the occasional "Cream" added for a little something different.

Around Halloween, Batdance *might* get played if the station is doing one of those 80's/90's retro show things.

I would abstain from making mention of these things. While it's cool that it happened or happens and the fans are interested in this sort of stuff, Prince has eyes on this website and should that radio station be playing unofficial recordings, they could get in big trouble and Prince is just dickish enough to do it.

Speaking of radio, who out there misses AOL's Radio Prince station. I use to put that channel on and just bask in the glow. I guess the Purple police got rid of that. I'm a younger fan and that station introduced me to a lot of songs I've never heard of before. It's hard trying to find some of the oldies without it being taken down suddenly.
