Prince was on drugs?

Just read in the Per Nilsen's book ''Prince, the first decade''

I enjoyed the book very very much and it took me less than two weeks to get to the end (it's very fast for me)

But it was one thing that made me angry.

In the end it said that he was on excasty when he decided that the black album shouldn't be released and he would do a more god related album, in which became Lovesexy later. In the excasty trip it was said that he thought the black album was devil-like and much related to how he felt during the time ( with the Lisa and Wendy splitup, also breakup with Sussannah), he was very angry.

I was really chocked by the thought of him on drugs ! My world became upside down for a moment. But I decided that it wasn't true, what was written in the book, so I closed it and hid it...far far away in the closet, never to be found again

What do you think ? Can you see Prince on drugs? I will never accept it myself, that my king, Prince was on drugs during this time. It's was Susan Rogers and Dr. Fink that said this but never will I accept it.

Well. I'm 19 years old and this was my first Prince-book I've read. So this was a real suprise to me.

Kinda makes me sad too

This might fall under TMI but.....

experimentation is a part of life.

You don't know what you can handle or what your "body" can handle without experimentation.

If you don't be brave and be willing to "fall" or be "THE FOOL" (tarot) all you're doing is regurgitating other people's ideas.

Frankly, I prefer to "Know" not guess.

And if he experiemented and found out Vegetarian is the way to go for him, his career, his body then fine.

Life is a gift. Gambling with it makes you appreciate the gift even more. If you're lucky to get to the other side of that mountain of course!

Wow, old news but ya, he dabbled with drugs. I won't judge him so harshly though, i wouldn't judge him at all. It was one night, i would hardly call him Ozzy Osbourne, Nikki Sixx, Robert Downey Jr., or

Sid Vicious. We've all dabbled in some kind of bad drugs whether it was Alcohol, Meth or whatnot, if you haven't...then you really haven't lived wink But thats good for you though, still don't judge Prince on this, other than having a small drinking problem, he's pretty much stayed away from major drug addiction which is RARE when it comes to Fame, Success and being a ROCK STAR!

Well mutiny91, that's how the world is. Not as pretty as you would hope it to be and full of stuff you don't like. Let's be real also, Prince is a rock musician. A very famous and rich one, who has also written a lyric here and there about drug use. In the circles he frequents and has frequented a lot, drug and alcohol (ab)use is not uncommon. Rather, it's usually more common than in other circles, in which it's also more common than you may think or hope. 'Sex, drugs and rock and roll' is the life he has lived for a long time. Why would the drugs part be missing?

Oh, you're only 19?? Oh kid, you've got your whole life ahead of you. Don't even start judging ppl until you're at least 30. Your 20s are gonna be the most exciting time of your life and things will be thrown in front of you much more than in HS. Not saying, try meth or blow or drink yourself until you pass out. But things will happen, just remember...MODERATION.

He's definitely squeaky clean compared to Amy Winehouse or any 80's heavy metal/hair band. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Really? Do tell us your story... smile

So your saying no one is perfect and we all make mistakes and move on? Your saying we should not hold a grudge over Prince because of this moment in his life. Hmmm.. Makes sense.

One must admit, without extasy there would be no lovesexy.

Don't hold Prince so high. He is human as we all are.

Contrary to what many here who think their perfect, we are all not perfect.

you mean the song about him having conflicted emotions and feeling about being taken advantage of sexually by a predatory adult?

Prince had a small drinking problem? Other than dabbling in gay drinks (banana daiquiris, etc), I didn't know about this.

yeah I do not think it ever was or is a problem. Has he ever been on stage (at a scheduled apperance) drunk? Or has he ever been too drunk to preform? Ever gotten a Public Intox charge? or a DWI (remember when he used to drive?)
