On Tavis Smiley back in 2004, he said "Beyonce is a great musician".

I don't think he was being genuine. Rather, he was probably just being nice. You don't start badmouthing someone once they're brought up in interviews when they never dissed you or anything like that.

I'm listening to Prince's monologue from the One Song, and after listening to the spoken parts from The Rainbow Children, with Prince's voice played at real speed, it's interesting that so many of Prince's "sermons", "monologues", "moments of clarity" or whatever you wanna call it also show up when he speaks and gives acceptance speeched at award shows. Like the 2007 NAACP Image Awards when he used the first verse of "Planet Earth" as a prelude to his thoughts about the digital music age for soul, jazz, and hip-hop music, or the 2000 Soul Train Awards when after Londell McMillian and Chuck D sung praises about Prince, P got in the pulpit and asked the audience to remain standing as he talked about how minorities can become the majority when it comes to community things.

Though this wasn't an award show, when Prince, Larry Graham and Chaka Khan appeared with Sinbad on the Vibe back in 1998, I never saw Prince speak so loosely about spirituality, the business and the respect Sinbad and Arsenio Hall had for him when he was getting bad press left and right. Prince's various interviews with Tavis Smiley have been insightful and entertaining, if nothing else to hear his unique perspective on political, social and racial affairs no matter how esoteric he appeared.

Other memorable WTF things Prince has said in the public:

When Prince inducted Parliament Funkadelic into the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame, P mentioned how George told him to "P" (play) on tapes back and forth.

The interview when he asked the reporter about her pubic hair.

On Tavis Smiley back in 2004, he said "Beyonce is a great musician".

Any thoughts?

It's always cool to see my man doing some interview but, he says some 'way out' things that you or I may not think about on the everyday. Hell, I'm too busy tryin' to stay ahead of my bills. I've seen a lot of the interviews on YouTube and what not but, the best ones have been like you said: Sinbad, Tavis and I like the one he did with Chris Rock. People who can relate and love the brother's music like you or I.

Peace ... & Stay Funky ...

No, that would have just been macabre and completely opposite of everything Prince is about from a commercial level.

Prince was going through ALOT of pain at that time and didn't know how to deal with it. The man refused to even say the words "my child died" cause it hurt him so much. Do you have any idea what that kind of pain is like? None of us know the exact circumstances, or matter/cause/time of death for the baby. Prince wrote many beautiful songs on Emancipation. His video for BBGW was very sweet and showed how much he wanted to be a dad. It wasn't his fault what happened..he dealt with it the best he knew how!

Actually we *DO* know the exact circumstances and the cause and the time of death. It's part of the public record now. We even know what the birth/death records state and how Prince tried to falsify those.

..but I like how you feign ignorance and claim that none of us know RIGHT after going on about what he was feeling/thinking at the time. When did he talk to you about that?

The fact remains that publicity was a sham. It was a calculated sham. There was zero need to portray any of that in public. You can speculate on WHY he did it but there's no doubt it was a planned thing on multiple levels.

...and yes the video is very sweet on the surface.

I'm totally backing you up on this dude. It was a great specail, but once you scratched the surface and you have some idea of how marketing works, it was all kindsa creepy.

As I said, and will say again, I NEVER said Prince sacrificed anyone...I never said joining the Illuminati required a sacrifice...I said he would have joined an organization like the Illuminati when he was young because he was hungry for success. And since I said he was 17-18..that clearly has NOTHING to do with his baby with Mayte..so it was a waste of time for you to bring it up. I stand by what I say...and I don't have a need to back track.

Your crazy posts are there in that thread for all to see. lol

Yeah they are there....and they back up what I'm saying here...I never said Prince sacrificed anyone. So you are the one left looking foolish for attempting to "quote" something that doesn't exist, in an attempt to be "right" or insult. Not surprised by this from you though...

Prince is GORGEOUS. I'm inspired. GOD is GREAT. Is there anything else to say? lol

Considering you've been BANNED for hate speech, the only person you should be worried about for looking foolish is yourself. The person straight up asked if you really thought "he did, at one point, join an organisation that required him to sell his soul and sacrifice a loved one" and you replied

Prince was a young man hungry for success...you bet he'd do anything to get to the top!

If that's not what you meant then you should attempt to be mature about it and clarify your bad wording but those ARE your words in reply to the question asked of you. lol

I actually really enjoy hearing Prince talk. He has said some of the most insightful and wisdom-filled things that I've heard. Some of it had me thinking, "hmm, interesting, maybe I should think more about that." There have been a few moments though that I can think of that probably left some people going "huh?"

For me personally, that whole Sunday interview where he refused to talk and has his face covered is like "WTF?" I mean it was too much for me!

The interview where Prince says "the people that do album reviews are usually popsicles salesmen!" I was like "Huh?" But ok, it was funny!

When Prince revealed that he had another person living inside of him and he wasn't sure what sex that person was. I don't personally find it weird, I understand it and where that idea came from. But I'm sure alot of people were like "What.The.Fuck.Is.This.Dude.Smoking?" The only thing that saved him was he looked so darn adorable talking about it.

When complimented on his singing about sex, Prince gives the craziest look and says "I do not! I do not! No I don't. It's spiritual union for me." So cute and too funny!

And not a interview, but in Purple Rain, that little bit between Prince and Appolonia always confused me...

P: Who gave it to you?

A: A person.

P: Male or Female?

A: Huh?

P: You're lying, I can tell just by your reaction you're lying. confused I'm confused! What's she lyring about?
