Has anyone seen the size of that Stadium that he is supposed to b performing in on the other thread titled Prince Live in SA(South Africa)??? I have no idea how he is gonna fill that one out!! If he cancelled Croke Park in Dublin, cos it didnt sell out, and that stadium there wasnt even half the size of this one, how in the Hell is he gonna fill the stadium in South Africa out????shocked shocked

I wasn't aware that he cancelled Croke Park because he didn't sell out....I thought it was because it was Prince being Prince....

Croke Park in Dublin has a seating capacity of 85,000 and he only sold about 55,000 tickets, so, according to Prince it wasnt financially viable enough for him to do the concert!!!

Oh no, the sucker is tryin to convert Nelson Mandela? ahhhhhhhhhhh, run Nelson.

This is Prince in his afrocentric phase..lol

So Prince possibly performing in Africa would be Prince going through an Afrocentric phase? So when he performs in Europe, is that Prince going through a European phase? How about if he goes to Asia? Come on 2freak, I thought you were smarter than that.lol

Not that I want to rain on your parade, but I'm pretty sure this won't happen.

He's been cancelling or postponing gigs in other countries where he's much more known and sells more records.

If finally happens, I hope someone with a recording device makes it to the place.

Negativity, have U had your minus sign today?

Seriously would it kill you to let dude have his moment?

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

i have an inside scoop from a friend who works in a big South African concert promotion company and his opinion is that the promoter handling the Prince gigs is a 'dodgy'. He doesn't hold toooo much faith in the gigs happening but hey- he would love to be proved wrong. here's hoping....

i am remaining optimistic y'all...like i said, even 1 show will be great and he should rock it either in cape town or up north in gauteng

things have been quiet this side.

i must say, though...that MNET is a reputable and well-established co., and if their being involved is any hint of positivity, let me hold on 2 it,

and not letitgo

It first appeared on computitcket that ticket sales started the following day ( this was @ weeks ago) shows where 2 in cpt one in jhb and one in durban in one months time!!!! Too good to be true? The folowing day it was gone of computicket. I then emailed computicket this was their response:

Computicket acknowledges receipt of your E-mail.

Please note that sometimes we remove the event temporarily because we need to adjust the inventory – usually because the promoter has asked us to make changes. While we are doing so the event will not appear on the website. As soon as the changes are complete, we open the booking again and the event will be on the website. At this present stage, we are still awaiting feedback from the promoter to confirm information regarding the performance. Please keep an eye on the press/our website for further updates in this regard.

It hasnt been back on since! I have it on good authority that it is being postponed till March. We will see...

Hi guys, I'm new here. I cried tears of joy when I heard that P was finally hitting South Africa. I e-mailed Computicket and they gave me the exact message as the one posted by a previous poster on this thread. I'm crossing my fingers hoping that P graces us with his presence. SHOUT OUT TO ALL SOUTH AFRICAN FANS ON THIS BOARD!!

it's really positive some of y'all are enthusiastic about the chance Prince might play in South Africa. looking back, the day it was announced he was coming was crazy!

imagine driving through mountains and hills of rural South Africa to hear 4 Prince songs in a row with announcements that he is coming (all before 8am).

i will always have maximum respect for Prince, and where he decides to share his art. at the same time, I think the time is ripe for him to come to South Africa.

i still maintain that Greenpoint Stadium in Cape Town is too big. It holds 70,000 plus people...pic below. but if he hits the smaller, indoor venues, we will need to order some serious foot spray 4 the funk.

Prince, South Africa has RIDDIM...bring that vibration down here please cool

is this true? i had a gold circle ticket :'-( and was told it was cancelled as the promoters had gone ahead without actually officially okaying it with prince??

@NelsonR, Greenpoint is way too big. Even one show at the Cocal-Cola Dome will suffice.
