Glad to see John Blackwell in the mix. But, Prince, see some of us work and don't have the time to travel and see you perform in Europe. Would you please take a trip back to the USA and play Chicago? I mean its not far from your home, a side trip really, and its been a WHILE since you've played Chi-Town!

Ida Nielsen aka Ida Funkhouser, BassIda

TC Electronic equipment:
RH450, 2xRS210

Myspace: www.myspace.com/girlonbass

BassIda is an extraordinary bass player who goes by a number of different artist names. You may know her as Ida Funkhouser or simply Ida Nielsen, but more importantly than any of her aliases is that she is an incredible player who revels in slap bass technique and is someone who can easily show off and demonstrate the many facets of bass playing.

As well as her solo projects Ida has played with a number of different bands over the years. Her bass career started out in Århus, Denmark, where she developed her slap style to perfection. While she is busy playing in a number of bands her most high profile role is as the bass player in the funk sensation Zap Mama. This is an amazing cross-cultural group led by ‘Afropean’ vocalist and songwriter Marie Daulne. It is a band that fuses African music with R&B and Hip Hop, so it’s certainly a bass playing challenge, but one that BassIda rises to with ease!

BassIda’s solo projects include her recent album Marmalade which is described as ‘a mix of old school Hip Hop and 70’s Funk with a touch of Nusoul, all with ear catching melodies and beautiful ballads’. As well as playing bass – of course – Ida plays all the other instruments on the album.

Ida uses the TC Electronic RH450 with two RS210 cabinets. The presets on the amp allow her to easily switch the sound when using both her Yamaha 4-string ’ and 5-string.

She's nice. I would love Prince to have two bass players. Her and Rhonda 2gether! You can never have too much funk

Uhm, well. Two bass players in one band certainly tends to be too much.

Why does there have to be a soundcheck? I don't have a songcheck. You don't have a clothescheck.

He can.

More often than not, he just doesn't.

I personally think his day is done; the muse is gone and he's just forcing it out.

If you really think that way Why are you on this board? He has put out two of the best CDs of his carreer recently and because neither received the hype from a major record label fans want to bale.

Find bale but please stop boring and clogging up the board with the complaits move on and let those that want to go to the concert and hear the same old great songs enjoy because what P does is no different from loads of other artist his age. Artist record and tour and do not get one minute of radio airplay and life goes on.

so ur referring to lotus and mplsound right? cause u can't be saying 20ten is the best of his career

man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

Nope. Not all. Just want to know when P will come to a venue near me that won't cost half my bank account to go to, like many others here & otherwise. wink

errr, nope!. most on here are well balanced and pretty bright. What the populas on here would really like is good old fashioned planning and organisation and some consideration. Is that really too much to ask?. Lots of us on here who have grown up with P now have jobs, kids etc to consider whereas P lives in his own whimsical world where he feels a click of his fingers means we all scurry like rats and drop everything. Now if you consider that fair and normal practice then your standards must be pretty low?.

Stop, stop, stop, stop, I'm tired of hearing all this crap about these new CD's being is best and why I am on this board. I mean, really? Prince's new music is... amusing to say the least, but the CD's are not the greatest of his entire career, that's a load of crap.

And stop accusing me of boring and clogging up this bored. So far the only bored one is you.

Nah ... I wouldn't say that funkyhead. I'm married with kids and if I find I can make a show, I go, bottom line. I married a hardcore P admirer like myself so if she let's me know P's doin' a show say ... Paisley Park, she 'knows' I'm gonna try my hardest to make that.

I don't drop nothin' for anyone except my son ... Prince who ... LoL

Peace ... & Stay Funky ...

Par for the course on here! Don't worry about it! BTW the one announcement I'm excited about is John Blackwell's statement that U.S. dates are planned after Asia. If so, I would imagine that would take place in the early part of 2011! I hope it is true! lol

Until the unnecessary jab of your last question I found your response to be well spoken and on somewhat on point. Worth discussing, at least. But that type of issue has nothing to do with why I posted my original comment. There was some serious hate and sarcasm flowing on the first page of this thread. As far as I was concerned confirmation of JB returning IS major news. And pretty awesome, too.

Regarding your point, if that's how all Prince shows were I'd agree with you. However, aside from a few one off shows, usually for special occasions, they haven't been that way for many years. When has Prince done that in recent times? There has been plenty of time between the on sale dates and the date of the shows for the recent European concerts. The Rio residency was there too long (imo) and everybody certainly knew about it. The 21 Nights residency had plenty of lead in time. The Musicology tour tickets went on sale months before the shows in some cases. Not really sure I see how Prince is messin' with your schedule. lol

I'm sure you are balanced and all....My point was targeted towards the fans complaining that Prince touring overseas was a mere money grab...When most of these same folks were complaining that Prince wasn't touring enough....

That's self-loeathing nuttery to me...
