Prince to rock Glastonbury 2011

Next year's Glastonbury Festival looks set to be headlined by Prince, U2 and Coldplay, according to reports.

U2, of course, were due to headline at the 2010 event, before Bono suffered a back injury and the band had to pull out, being replaced late in the day by Gorillaz.

As Spinner previously reported, the band's manager, Paul McGunness, has said, "There is a gap in the band's schedule ahead of the East Lansing show on June 26 which would make the Friday night a possibility."

Prince is another artist that Michael Eavis, the festival's organiser, has been trying to secure for years.

Coldplay, meanwhile, are festival favourites, having played big shows on Worthy Farm in 2002 and 2005.

Both Coldplay and U2 are working on their new albums at the moment – the Irish stadium rockers are in the studio with producer de jour Dangermouse.

A source was quoted by the Sun saying, "Michael was very keen to get the line-up sorted early and is over the moon at securing such massive acts. He is a huge fan of Prince and has been trying to nab him for years."

"The fact it's been tied up so quickly is a big but welcome shock."

Eavis was announcing just after this year's event in June that he already had "three really good headliners" lined up.

If you haven't bought your tickets yet, though, you're too late. Tickets sold out in four hours when they went on sale on Oct. 3. You'll have to either get a job on a food stall or volunteer with Oxfam.

Sticking to form, the festival organisers are keeping quiet until the official announcement of the whole line-up. That'll be much closer to the festival itself, which takes place June 22 to 26.
