As much as I dislike the grouch, I think he was trying to say the person who made those popular and the "official" rock sunglasses are those round ones. No matter what size. Its usually round ones that people in rock like.

Lennon, among others, made these popular long before Prince ever touched a pair. They were readily available in various sizes.

I remember UK music mag "Smash Hits" ran a competition in 84/85 to win the actual glasses and jacket in this picture, I guess it was the Warner Bros. promo dept who provided them. So it looks like the originals ended up in the UK... I wonder if the winner still has them, maybe hidden away in the attic and unaware of their value or if they wound up on the collector's market??

"John Lennon" glasses are "granny glasses" that he wound up getting when he filmed "How I Won The War" and decided to keep them on when he went back to England and worked with The Beatles on "Sgt Pepper".

There might be some "thanks to" a sunglass maker in the movie, but other than that, would be hard to find who was the original maker, if any. Could've been custom made.

Other than that you have Ozzy who wore the Lennon granny glasses, but Joey Ramone had glasses I've never seen anyone else wear, and he was never photographed without shades on.
