So what you're saying is that you broke your funky bone? I shoulda sent flowers.

wink

lol

nah, I just never felt like the funk came together on this one. it's a little overly busy trying to disguise the fact that it never really finds a groove.

I might like the backing track better with some different lyrics or a different vocal delivery. not sure. it's just never done anything for me.

lol I think that's the point of the track. I never finds the groove and it doesn't really try to either.

With the exception of Anna Stesia that album is a nay to me. The whole Black album/Lovesexy era was not for me. I really dig the Batman album and the 90s era following this though.

I like it, reminds me of Tamborine, rhythm wise.

Yes!

The way the drum beat sort of trips over its own feet is amazing - and funky.

Dance On = 8/10,

= the only song on Lovesexy I find a bit weak.

The rest of this fine album is a masterpiece.

Maybe that's what he means by 'they all know the words, but the music is doomed'.

definite yay.

i won a free cd off of Future Music magazine which had a cover version of it on it because i got the spine riddle correct.

i wonder what happened to that cd and indeed magazine and indeed the sheer luxury of living in england below the age of thirty with no passport.

well world service

Big yay! When I bought the Lovesexy album I rarely listened to all of side B because I'd keep picking the needle up to replay Dance On. Then I'd get bored and move on to a different record. lol Still a favorite.

Eh, I think it's pretty weak. If it were up to me it would have been left in the vault.

A big fat....NAY! The funk just doesn't come together. I always thought it woud get there, but it just misses it! It's like he kept trying to get there but would back off, it's a bit of a mess. I think it would probably work well Live if he changed it up a bit. But the ablum version just doesn't work for me and I almost never listen to this song unless I'm just putting the ablum on and letting it play thru!

Prince is GORGEOUS. I'm inspired. GOD is GREAT. Is there anything else to say? lol
