i'd say Van Gogh and Beautiful Strange (i like the latter and it sounds like him because its great musicianship but the vibe doesn't remind me of anything he's done. Satisfied and On the Couch are both more bluesy, this is something short of BLUES, but its not a typical ballad either).

also i'd say Sweet Baby and Shy

I just listened to it today and, arrangement-wise, it is very, very reminiscent of The War. Especially the guitar effects and playing is similar. Then again, both were recorded at the same time, more or less...

It's a 40-minute live jam with the NPG from 1998 that was edited down to 30 minutes and was given away back then on cassette and as a download. It's brilliant and psychedelic.

I'm going to throw "Solo" on the list.

Interesting song (IMO), but I've never thought the melody or mood of the song had a Prince sound.

perhaps because Prince didn't write it by himself, but rather was a collaboration with David Henry Hwang

That's interesting. I wonder what David's contribution was in order to get the co-write credit.

In All My Dreams comes to mind. The crazy end is very Prince, but the song itself is not so much.

Do U Lie also has elements of Prince, but the song itself is not very Prince-like

Venus De Milo would probably never be identified as Prince, if we didn't know it

I can't think of one and I respectfully disagree with everyones choices. Diveristy is one of the things I expect from Prince, it may not happen all the time but when it does, brilliant Prince!

I also have to say, the creator of this thread included, "The Love We Make" as an un-Prince like song. Seriously?!?!?! That couldn't be anymore Prince than his own DNA!! It has Prince written all over it. If I heard someone else singing that first I would have said, "hey, that sounds like a something Prince would do".

Weird thread, I guess we all don't know Prince as well as I would've thought.

I can only think of two....

One is one of my all-time favorite Prince song My Love is Forever only because it is too sweet to be a Prince song.

And the other Mi Amo Corazon, well I agree with the earlier post on that one.

I would say "Arms Of Orion" doesn't sound anything like a Prince song. I remember around that time thinking "someone must have wrote that for him" lol.

I always loved that song. One of the handful I know lyrics to in fact. I wish little gems like this still popped up on albums. They never do.
