Dont give Prince any ideas. lol

I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Prince is my dude for life and I will always buy what he's selling but I just wish the dude would "shut up already! Damn!" I get what a lot of people are saying both pro and con but I wish he would think about what he would say before he says them so that in the end, he doesn't look like a class A fool. He has never made me shake my head the way he has this week. What makes the week well, memorable I guess is that the snippets of the 20TEN CD sounds like he might have made a great CD and now here he goes talking silly shit, yet again. When will the madness stop? I miss the days when he didn't talk so much because when he did speak, he was saying something. I'm still hanging with Prince but Lord have mercy on my soul. lol

I agree he needs to choose his word carefully with the media. Every comment he makes is going to be blown out of porpotion and only half reported. I hope futrue interviews are just about the CD and nothing else.

Gee, thanks for the advice. I wish I'd thought of that before I did not join his now defunct Lotusflow3r website! giggle

It's more than Lotusflow3r. if you feel he deserves to crash and burn then don't support anything on any level (Cds, concerts, videos, bootlegs, print media, fragrances, clothing etc.). Cut him off and then see if it gets the desired result. The same people who bitched endlessly on here about Lotusflow3r are now peeing their pants about 20TEN. How soon they forget? I never felt disenfranchised by Prince and am looking forward to the new CD but I can't understand why all those who seem to want him to fail would purchase or try to obtain anything he's doing now.

EXACTLY...where have I ever said Prince deserves to crash and burn? confuse

With the exception of giving into my compulsive shopping disorder while in Target and getting the Lotusflow3r Trilogy for free because of my previously accumulated, frequent shopper points...shrug

I personally HAVEN'T...

supported anything on any level (Cds, concerts, videos, bootlegs, print media, fragrances, clothing etc.

in over 3 years.

Cut him off and then see if it gets the desired result.

I don't care, if it does or doesn't. For ME...it is personal!

I and MANY other bitter, old, stuck in the past fans have ALWAYS been his safety net! Even when there was a whole world of others that weren't!

The way I honestly see it...if he can fly WITHOUT a majority of US...then I wish for him...from the depths of my soul...nothing but the ability to spread his wings and soar!

AND on that same note and with the same passion and conviction! I ALSO happen to understand and accept, thanks to the things that Prince taught me in his "wicked" past...that the feathers WILL indeed fall, where they may! shrug

I will STILL get to hear Prince's 20Ten and I will NOT have to buy that paper NOR will I have to illegally download it! whofarted

I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

Ok, Prince proves once again, that he is not in touch with the real world.

As we all know, Prince says the internet is "completely over". By not releasing his music online, he is NOT doing himself any favors. By this short-sighted view, he will end up increasing the illegal downloading of his new album.

Yes, it will be released for "free" this Saturday on CD, but it will be available the same day on the internet everywhere.

Another dumb move, by a notoriously short-sighted genius.

Thats a proper load of bollocks

Anyone who would rather download it for free than pay a quid for the paper should be shot, maybe tortured first too.

Here we are 3 days before the album giveaway and no leaks. I'm sure most artists could only dream their albums remain under wraps so near to release. Instead nearly all albums via the music industry leak weeks before release. Once the album drops who's gonna care about leaks? Prince and the newspapers have both been paid by then. A clever coup for all concerned.

However I agree prince's current distribution method is short sighted coz we all know the future for newspapers is going to be internet delivery. So where can Prince go next with covermounts....

Prince has been very naive stating the internet is dead - we diehard fans know the point he was trying to make no matter how ill informed but to the casual observer he really has come off sounding out of touch with reality.

Why oh why didn't Prince have his websites free at the point of use with a simple pay per item interface. Maybe then the internet would've worked for him and he would have been able to ensure recent releases remainfor sale ratehr than the '1 day' availability he faces now.

If the internet is completely over, then these damn companies need to stop charging a monthly fee for it which is the very reason I don't have it at home. If anything, it has taken over. You can't even ask a retailer a question over the phone about a product without them giving you a web address to check out. They act as if everybody has that monthly money to shell out.

One thing for sure, he can't sell his CD to U.S. newspapers so he's gonna HAVE to put it in our local Wal-Marts and Targets and shit, he has no choice. In Europe, yeah you can probably get away with that, but not here in the United States, no sir. lol

I hate huge chains like those and Best Buy too. A store full of no variety whatsoever. He needs to sell them in our local Be-Bop Record stores where I've been buying all his albums since 1979 except for the two albums where he sold out and gave "exclusives" to Sam Goody and Target. lol

Because one newspaper is not sold in the entire nation. Every state has a newspaper or newspapers that cover their local area as well as national news.

We are so quick on here to bash. Look beyond what Prince actually said and you will see that he accomplished what he set out to do with that quote. There has been press all across the internet and the news because of that quote. And in every mention of that quote they mention his new album 20Ten being released soon. Everything he does is calculated. He just got free publicity for his tour and album.

With this publicity, he's using downloaders for his own advantage. However, it's like a double-edge sword now: You can either download the album somewhere to rebel against him, and thus aid his new music's popularity by discussing it. OR, you can NOT download the album to rebel against him, but resultingly help his primary agenda of ceasing the sharing of his music online. As usual, the man is quite cunning....

Lol...u would think after all this time.......people would know what's up.

Nice post and right on target.

Thanks. He may sound foolish with his latest comments, but he's not fooling me, lol. Now I look at almost everything he says/does with incredulous eyes, like: "Man, I see what you're doing...." lol

Then why don't he just do it then? lol Seems like Prince has problems doing that in America because in America it probably doesn't make sense... I guess anyway. Have you known any music being sold in newspapers in America? He's only done it in Europe. Was "Planet Earth" sent to newspapers in Asia and Australia and New Zealand? Seems like he's only doing the papers thing in Europe.

In other words, you're the exact reason why Prince's current business model makes more sense than using traditional models.

Nope.

In other words, it's my money and I expect Prince to market his wares in areas convenient to me not convenient to him - if he wants me to part with said money. I've purchased every album of Prince's from For You to 3121. Planet Earth, LotusFlower, and 20TEN have been marketed in ways which prevent me from obtaining them without going more out of my way than I am willing. If I can't get it online via Amazon or iTunes, then he doesn't want my money.

Edit: BTW - the money I would've spent on those albums wouldn't even go to Prince. They'd go to the newspapers or Target and I have no desire to give money to those organizations.

I love how a large majority on here act like they've never hunted down a outrageously priced Prince bootleg or downloaded some music illegally prior to this epic internet shattering event! Please cut the crap. We've all bootlegged some Prince material in the past and we're all going to do it again in the future. Stop acting like Prince is asking you to climb Everest to get the next CD. If you want it you'll do what you need to to get it. The truth of record stores is that they really don't exist in most cities any longer. If you don't like Prince's methods of distribution then don't support the product he's distributing (but we know that's asking entirely too much of most orgers). All of the whining about he's not making it "convenient for me to get" is pathethic. You'll be on your computer on July 10th searching for the first person/site to make a download available (in your pajamas while drinking tea nonetheless). Oh the inconvenience!!!

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

This wasn't aimed directly which is why I posted free of anyones post. It is aimed at all the post on here and other threads about the distribution of the CD. Everyone is all up in arms over the moethod and why? He did it before and it worked to his advantage so he's doing it again. It's clever of him but it's not the event it's being made out to be.

Because Prince, like many other artists, is a contradiction. He's only saying things that benefit only him. It's like just because he won't sell his stuff online or claim that selling music online is a "dying fad" doesn't mean everyone should play follow the leader. This is PRINCE here. He's not a rocket scientist. lol
