Someone will have to fill in the gaps on this, because I might misquote the thing. But one story had it that Jerome (I think?) broke up with his girlfriend or wife, and he was really down and out about it. The story goes on to say that Prince wrote that song for Jerome, giving a voice to his pain of loss and break up. I don't really buy that, but it's out there.
It's pretty much a given it's about Suannah. It's pretty amazing that out of all the girlfriends Prince has had, it was Susannah, this one girl, who inspired so many incredible songs, spanning about four years, from "The Beautiful Ones" in September 1983, until things like "Strange Relationship", "If I Was Your Girlfriend", and "Adore" in 1987. Mayte is probably the only other girl that Prince has written that much material about. Susan, Vanity, Lisa, Jill - a lot of the girls in his life have gotten a song here and there, but nothing like Susannah and Mayte inspired. | |

None - Its a great song with Prince singing it, no other guy should sing it, its Princes song. Besides its not one to hit the top of the charts. | |

Maybe... but it'd go over like gangbusters with the lesbians! When  go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all  up in the house but when log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming! | |

Having heard his rendition of previous Prince songs on the I'll Do Anything soundtrack, I'd love Nick Nolte to remake it.
That way, I could safely say that I'd definitely heard the worst song ever.
Actually, scratch that, it'd still be tied with Purple & Gold.
