Rarest released Prince song in downloadable format?

Most all of Prince's released music is widely available including B sides.

But out of all the songs released on cassette, vinyl, CD etc. by Prince or by Prince in a collection. What songs have you found that are not available through regular channels like Itunes?

I can't find the studio version for 4 the tears in your eyes on the We are the World album. Does it exist?

What downloadable Prince songs have you not been able to find

There is a ton of prince songs not available on i-tunes, their content (of Prince) is pathetic.

That album is all over online. You can still find it in stores too.

I could think the hardest stuff to find is the 12" or B-sides. The extended B-sides weren't on The Hits. You have to dig online to find those versions if you don't already own them. But they are out there.

Out of officially released stuff....I think most any of it is easy to find, including "4 The Tears In Your Eyes".

I try to own as much officially stuff as I can. I don't have any guilt about downloading a 12" or a B-side because I already own the vinyl. If Prince isn't going to release it on CD, then I'll find a digital copy to enjoy. I feel that way about any vinyl I own.

7" edits and CD promo-only edits that aren't on the Hits or TVOB or Ultimate are the ones that give me fits and are almost impossible to find.

Bootleggers, uploaders, etc., have, understandably, focused on the 12" versions.

I'd really like a collection of edits. I actually have use for them often. The boot 7" In The Computer was a nice effort, but really needs to be cleaned up. and expanded beyond 1986.

One of the rarest Prince songs I ever heard online -- officially - was his cover version of Shania Twain's "You're Still The One". That was never truly downloadable though.

I haven't heard that for a long time.

I actually just ordered and received the We Are The World album a few months ago. I really like it - and, the title track is actually one of the weaker ones on that album.

That version of 4 The Tears In Your Eyes is just too cool - between PR and ATWIAD, but leaning toward ATWIAD sonically.

yeah, that one IS very elusive. think I only heard it once back when it was originally posted. don't even remember what his website was at the time. love4oneanother.com?

anyway, i can't even remember if it was live or studio. is there a bootleg out there with this "official" version on it?

"You're Still the One" was only in Real Audio format, so... if you've got that, you've got "the best" version of it.

"Purple and Gold"
"Turn Me Loose"

Those would probably currently be among the hardest to get.

i think the only CD release it was on was the Japanese 3" CD single. been watching auctions for it on ebay from time to time and it gets pretty spendy by the time it sells. neutral

I have that single and have ripped it to flac

It's a nice little extension of the song, taken from the extended version.

Took me ages to find the single though.

I'm with you 100 percent on this. I own ALL of the 12 inches and singles that I have downloaded digital copies of. I bought "the war" on cassette. I bought it while in the npgmc. I paid for it. I feel totally good about finding a digital copy elsewhere for my own personal use. Prince got my money.
