I think his debt runs around 3 million. He could sell a home and get that. He's hardly in a situation where he should be concerned for his lifestyle. He is still one of the most bankable performers around. He could play arenas just by calling up the owners and saying he's interested.

Very good point.Recording artists have hit records, make alot of money and get comfortable with their lavish lifestyles. The problem is...at a certain point, the hits dry up,record sales lag and suddenly they're not making as much money anymore.Instead of scaling back and cutting back on expenses, they continue to live like they did during their "heyday".That's why so many of them eventually have financial problems.I'm not saying that this is necessarily the case with Prince, but you never know....

Yeah, musicians, eh? What a bunch of idiots. They're all doomed cos none of them can see the writing on the wall. Gimme a break - what a naive generalisation.

What about office workers then? Closeted in front of a computer screen all day, no creative interaction with anything.....they seem to lose all sense of perspective.....! Would that be a fair statement?

Who are these "so many of them" falling on hard times? Or are you just assuming that cos it seems to support your blanket theory? And is it because they're just stupid, or could it be that they are in an industry that creams the majority of the spoils and spits them out when they're done?

No, of course not.....couldn't be evil corporations could it? Must be those dumb-ass musicians..... confused

rolleyes So are you gonna deny that some artists and celebrities live beyond their means and don't budget/manage their money properly? Buying huge mansions that they can't really afford? Buying a bunch of expensive cars when they only need one or two? These things have nothing to do with their eventual financial problems, right? rolleyes

Same question could be asked by everyone who thinks he's about to file for public assistance and food stamps.

After some though I don't think it's possible to be honest. Even if he couldn't afford to pay the money he owes he can do a tour any time, any place & make a few mil. He could release old music & make a lot of money too. He could sell all the expensive stuff he's baught over the years. He could rent out his studio to other artists. He could even ask his fans/celebrity friends for donations & he'd get a lot of money! There's no chance he'll ever be bankrupt in my opinion.

Do you always answer questions with further questions?

No, I don't deny that SOME musicians have financial problems. I don't deny that SOME people from all walks of life have financial problems. I challenged that fact that you said "most musicians" (or words to that effect). You were generalising that MOST musicians struggle financially and you put it down to them being shit with money. You have no proof of that at all. You just can't generalise about this sort of thing. You might as well say "all (insert ethnic group here) people are thieves" - its the same thing, except you'd get torn apart for that statement. But its seemingly acceptable to most to accuse such an innoccuous group (ie musicians).

The words "most musicians" is nowhere to be found in my post.I used the phrase "many of them" because, whether you admit it or not, many recording artists do have financial problems. That's why we continually have threads like these:

Many of these people, like Prince, make alot of money in their careers. They just don't know how to budget, save and manage their money.Alot of them do spend recklessly.Think I'm lying? Watch an episode of MTV's 'Cribs' sometimes (if it still airs).

lol - you're kidding me, right? Basic comprehension really isn't your forté, is it? Is there supposed to be some massive difference between "most musicians" and "many of them"? Both terms could be applied to 51%!

You started by saying "Recording artists have hit records" - you make no distinction as to how many, so the reader can only assume that you mean "all" recording artists. You then don't actually diminish this implication of it being about "all recording artists" until the penultimate sentence when you said "That's why so many of them eventually have financial problems." - SO MANY OF THEM. That usually means most.

Even if we forget about the "most" confusion from your apparent ambiguity, what proof do you have that even "many" musicians have financial problems. 2 threads on the Org is harldy sufficient evidence! Can you substantiate your claim properly? If not, stop throwing out wild generalisations that only form from prejudice in your own thoughts! razz

if Annie Liebovitz can breeze out of it, I am sure Prince can stay miles away from bankruptcy. He isnt as stupid as Nicholas Cage . .

Why? The point of being mysterious and and adding cryptic comments does what other than point attention in your direction?
