Anyone here familiar with contract law in Ireland? I'm too lazy to research.

Basically, an Irishman will tell you he will do a grand job, let you down and then blame the English for the state of everything. wink

I still blame the promoters on this, even though Prince acted like a dick. If they really didn't get a watertight contract with someone like Prince, then they don't understand their business.

Lets face it, most fans knew he wasn't going to turn up.

Where Prince screwed his fans over yet again was leaving it until the week before to pull the plug. He had months to deny any involvement and chose not to. He let a loyal fan base, from all over Europe books plane tickets, hotels and seats and then shafted them with a week to go.....again.

The promoters are to blame in the court case, Prince is to blame for his fans losing out.

I put even more blame on the promoter myself - the fact that the other announced concerts were cancelled wayyy before the Dublin one made it look like the promoter was trying to force him into doing it and calling his bluff. Would have been nice to get some communication from Prince about it but it has been suggested that he wasn't legally allowed to do so.

Fat chance he'll appear.
Maybe he wants his fans to know he cares for them and that it wasn't his fault per se.
Or maybe he feels taht he is in his rights.
But still: all that effort for a lousy bit of money. (yes, we're in 2010, billions get us started)

Promoters suing Prince over concert
Tuesday, 23 February 2010 13:02

Lawyers for Prince, whose real name is Prince Rogers Nelson, told the Commercial Court that the artist would be defending the action and had made a statement, but would not be attending to give evidence.

Sounds like Prince never saw the money in the first place and didn't seek to keep it after the cancellation. Come across as 2 businesses using his name to make the case more high profile.

2 words..." As if"...they guy does what he wants when he wants and screw everyone so I doubt hed travel to an Irish court unless it was to collect a briefcse of money hed successfully sued soembody for

Shhhh - the grown ups are going to court. It's time for silly little fans to be quiet.

Very disappointed in you Squirrel, I could start with the sarcastic american jibes, but that would be a bit too lowbrow for my sense of humor.

But there are a few Scots in here who might take your gold chain and afro and stick them up your hole? Get me?

perhaps he wasn't able to, or advised not to say anything, for legal reasons?

prince never confirmed to fans that he was going to attend, there was nothing about it on any of his websites either, not before, during or after the time

any other time he's done a gig he's said he was going to do it, posted on his own website, tv appearances etc. he even waffles on about tours that never even happen. remember chelsea rodgers tour t shirts for a never to happen 2008 usa/world tour to follow on from 21 nights in london?

the one thing that did puzzle me about this is the promotion. There were official tv spots using his videos, logos etc and of course posters around the city. Where did this material come from if not authorized?

it was official promoter stuff, but who says prince authorised it? i could stick an ad in the paper saying prince is playing, but prince would have nothing to do with it. prince didnt place the ads
