I think the term 'lifestyle' is pulling people up, because homosexuality isn't a lifestyle, thus there is no 'gay lifestyle'.

A lifestyle is your taste in clothes, music, your interests etc, etc - these aren't determined by sexuality, so, no gay lifestyle. Like to say "black lifestyle" would be suggesting all black people live their lives a certain way, obviously not true.

Not lecturing, just clarifying the way I see it. smile

You live and you learn.

Most people in the LGBT family do not consider it a "lifestyle" because it is who we are and were born as. Homosexuality does not just mean people of the same sex having sex. Some gay people do not have sex at all. We do not like being simplified to just a base level. We are so much more than that.

OK, perhaps "gay lifestyle" was a poor word choice. I stand corrected, but if "homosexuality does not just mean people of the same sex having sex," what does it mean? And if you "do not like being simplified to just a base level," why identify with any term associated with homosexuality? You're the same as any other human being, a male or a female, a man or a woman. OK, so maybe I don't understand what you mean by "base level," and I'm not trying to be funny or sarcastic here. I really would like to understand how you feel about this so I won't put my foot in my mouth again. biggrin
I put it this way: just because you are heterosexual, does that mean you are having sex?

Homosexual simply means being attracted to the same sex. Just like some heteros, some homosexual people don't have sex. People get their panties all in a wad because think that gays live some hedonistic lifestyle and do nothing but fuck all day.

Wonder if he still does that 'whisper in someone's ear so they can speak for him' thing he did on the Sunday Show back in the mid 90's?

Always reminded me of Sooty talking to Matthew Corbett.

falloff Oh yeah I remember that! That was totally funny We were all like WTH was that?! Prince has always been strange. I think this person should get off it and be glad they were allowed to sit in on the meeting. Shoot, I wish he would whisper messages to someone to give to me... lol

You're absolutely correct about some heterosexuals and homosexuals not having sex; but given the chance or desire, with whom would they choose to partake? That's all I'm saying. And never did I believe that all gays want to do is "fuck all day." If that's the case, the same could be said of some heteros who, given the opportunity, would screw their brains into infinity.

Not long ago someone posted Prince doing this dance move on a talk show. It was sort of a push-up to a stand sort of thing with a dancer behind him and then on top of him. He had on the marigold outfit that I think was part of his ass-out wardrobe. he also had that headwrap/headband thing on.

Anyway my point is this, I can not see ANY homophobic man doing this move in THAT outfit. I mean by this time he had been called a "homo" or worse plenty of times. If all the gay rumors upset him, and certainly they would upset a homophobic male, he would not done this dance move on TV (I think it was Arsenio's show).

A guy that's homophobic tends to ban everything "girlie" from his wardrobe.

I really never considered Prince's clothes choices effeminate; just in poor taste, like his decorating. lol

I agree. His clothes are mostly poor taste when compared to what one would wear just walking down the street or in the office. To me girlie clothes would be dresses or something that shows off the female form specifically breasts and hips. Now Prince's clothes during the Dirty Mind era could definitely be considered girlie since he wore those thigh high leg warmers and bikini briefs.

Sadly I still have not got the picture posting thing down pat (thanks Dez for trying to help) or I would clearly post tons of pictures of that man in clothes that are cut in a way that no homophobe would wear. Add to that the hairdos like the Typoon and that bump thing he wore on the cover of Planet Earth. Honey that thing he had on looked more like a bustier than a corsette or vest. The top of that black thing was scalloped like it was a bustier worn by someone with a AAA cup. The amount of make-up he had on when he sang SHOE for Leno. Leno was under the same lights as Prince yet he didn't see the need to wear all that eyeshadow etc. If someone is a homophobe the worst thing you could call them is a "fag", that's torture for them. Given that fact, they avoid ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING that would encourage people to think that about them. Simply put, such men try to look as butch as possible all of the time.

I can't say you're wrong about this, but I think it should be said, that associating all things girly with "gay", like noticing the clothes and the make up and using it to fuel the debate about homosexuality ... is so last century. And honestly, I think Prince is very well aware of his own sexuality, and probably also smart enough to know that whatever he wears doesn't reflect on his sexuality, meaning, he doesn't care.

And I've never understood why people Prince's clothes looked gay. They're more Little Richard and Marvin Gaye and "showbiz afro-American cirka 1970s", than homosexual.

Anywho ... why isn't this locked yet?

I must be the LEAST articulate orger on here.

My point is that I never met a homophobe that didn't go out of there way to act as butch as possible. They are the leastlikely to wear the colors pink and purple, puffy sleeves, lace, etc.

I am not saying that gay men are wear foundation, ruffles, etc, What I am saying is that you would have to twist a true homophobes arm off to get him to do those things. Homophobes aren't big on Little Richard, David Bowie, or any other musician who came too close to androgenous line. I can no more believe that Prince is a homophobe than I can believe that Little Richard and David Bowie are homophobes.

I'm sure he's telling me the truth. He's worked for years with alot of big American music stars and he said this was the worst.
He's also a huge Prince fan. When he said to Prince ' I've always loved your music'.Prince didn't reply .. he just turned his head away.

It has to be said Prince did interact with everyone else in these meetings.

I know 3 people who have had meetings with him, and they all have similar stories. None of them is gay. So I think it has more to do with Prince not being comfortable in business meetings than it does with his alleged homophobia (which I don't think is true). Except when he's on stage or in a very comfortable environment, he seems to clam up around strangers. The guy's aloof, not a homophobe.

Yep, that's about right. He's been quiet around chicks too. Some people find aloofness sexy and mysterious. shrug
