Andy Warhol Portrait Of Prince

I would Love to get my hands on a copy of Andy Warhol's portrait of Prince.
Does anyone know if you can buy poster size copies of it?

Does anyone have it on their computer? Please post it on this thread,
if its okay~

Its funny how Andy Warhol is known as "The Prince Of Pop"
* Not the only one IMO *

Last year, they were all over the streets of Montreal as there was a Warhol exhibition...the real one was on the wall of the museum, to be seen...

It did at the time it was made. That's the great thing about art.

I understand the concept of interpretive art, but this just isn't good, even for the time period. Think about how Marilyn Monroe was depicted by Warhol, now compare to this Prince print--it seems angry and non-flattering.

I'm not too crazy about it either. It looks a little it like Larry Blackmon of Cameo.

Yeah I totally agree with you the MJ one is very beautiful and really does reflect on his over all image/ essence. My all time favorite has to be Marilyn Monroe that picture just awes me .....

... But it's Warhol. It's not supposed to capture the essence. The point of the image is closer to equating a popstar to wallpaper more than being a portrait of the man behind the popstar image.

Very Nice. I have to tell U guys...I just painted the King and Queen of Hearts.

The King of Hearts is sometimes called the suicide King. Instead of putting a sword in his crown, I put the Prince Symbol in his hand. It came out cute. cool

Thanks for posring this image, however it isn't the one I've seen before.

More clothing and more red

Very 80s looking

Red looked like it symbolized sex

Your right, I think this is the one but they cropped it. Cropped right up to this chin. Still love to have a copy of this as reproduction poster. I think one turned up on ebay once but it was pretty expensive. Maybe I should contact the museum in Pittsburg for availability.

Hey isn't support to be a cool Prince in up photo, is a Warhol painting, art is not about something specific like a music video formula.

Yeah, I totally get that Warhol was trying to show that art was like soup cans--but the point is, by the time he got to Prince--he even missed the soup can label for effectiveness! razz Much better done in his MJ and Marilyn portraits! In the end, Warhol became a victim of his own "soupiness!" eek
