whats the most precious/rarest prince-album?

there are so many bootlegs and special releases of prince. but whats the official most expensive and rarest album that would make every prince-fan very happy? something like "The Mauritius Post Office Stamp."

I only started collecting in 1999, so my rare may not be most people's rare...

But I suppose I'd say Madhouse 8/16? I have Madhouse 16, never bit the bullet for 8, though I have it on vinyl/mp3 form.

Were any copies of Undertaker officially released?

Other than that, I'd say the NPG single "Peace" from the Hit N Run tour around 2000 I think it was. I managed to get ahold of Supercute and Daisy Chain, but that one sold out after a couple of stops.

That's all I got.

I guess the original pressings of the Black Album are the rarest?

no there's none.

the rarest would indeed be the original pre-destruction Black Album or Undertaker for the unreleased ones, with maybe Milk & Honey, too.

for the released ones i'd say the 1st pressing of Goldnigga and possibly the Kamasutra CD & the War cassette, too.

now there are also a lot of really rare promo singles.

When you say the Kama Sutra CD, are you referring to the one that came with Crystal Ball?

If so, had no idea that was rare...

Also, I thought The War also came on CD, and that was the super rare one?

$75! wow! I bought my second Vanity 6 CD in a used record store in LA for $5 about a dozen years ago - and it was a legit pressing.

black album!

wow- i was- er... a friend of mine was just telling her teen that her mom (teen's gramma) was the coolest, most hardcore mom back in the day and one day in 1987 had a square box with styrofoam packing come to the house from overseas, and in it was a black cover with a black album with a black label...

on it were some hardcore lyrics (for a fanatical, obsessed 14 year old back then) and some funky songs.

hm. it's in a crate with the other albums at said mom's house. would never think of selling it, but wonder what it would go for?

has all the madhouse ones, too. next time my uh friend is on the east coast, i think she said she's gonna burn them to cd.

fun! like my- her own little rare collection. cool

"For You," is getting hard 2 find. In my opinion it's the precious U need as a Prince fan...

The rare stuff is like trying to steal a man's diary. I'm not interested in any of that.

The German "Gold Disc" edition of Around The World In A Day is pretty rare. I've seen it go for over $200. And to think I bought it for £5 in a dusty indie record store, and didn't know that it was anything other than a normal version until a year later... biggrin

The "51 Hours" vinyl is pretty rare too.
