I have "Father's Song", which is actually a John L. CD, but Prince is all over it. I've never seen it anywhere.

I never heard anything about Prince playing a single note on this record, where on earth did u hear that?

From his sister Sharon, who gave me the CD. Also, the guitar work is credited to "Gemini".

Have you heard it? It's Prince, no doubt.

Sure, as soon as I get my scanner to work. Give me a day or so.

Do u know how (if at all) the song was credited on it (like "Prince version" or miscredited as being some remix of Mica's version)?

the sleeve and label credit it as a remix with no mention of "prince vocals or anything like that cool I will see if I can post a picture .

More directly on topic though, I think the gatefold longbox cd of Purple rain would fit the bill as rare and precious. There are very few of these around and it has broad appeal

I'd be grateful to know how exactly it was credited & which year it was released, for my discography (see link below), thanks for either posting a pic or just telling me wink

Thanks.

The (p) means that the master-tape is owned by whoever owns it while the copyright is only about the packaging. I've never known why a "p" ("property" maybe?)

For the record, "The Inner Sanctum" bootleg has the John L songs on it also and it's easier to find than "Platinum". Just a heads up for anyone that's on the hunt for these songs.

I paid $100 bucks for a bootlegged Black Album circa 1986-87.

The album was supposed to be released in DECEMBER 1987. I'm 100% sure you didn't buy that boot before 1988.

I was glad that Warner Bros. forced the release of this music in the mid 90's.

How 'bout just sticking to the facts:

Bart I am rather sure that U are more correct on the dates than I am, but I can assure U that whenever I purchased that album it was quite "precious" in the sense that I did not have $100 bucks laying around to buy an album. It was my actual first purchase of a bootlegged item and I was amazed then (and now) that I was able to find that particular item in such a random manner.

Yeah, sure. rolleyes You really think they're more rare than CDs where only a handful of copies exist?

Some people live in Alaska you know, these records are VERY scarce in Alaska!!!

The people of Alaska could always open an Ebay and/or Amazon account.....Plenty copies of both on these websites.

Listening to it right now thanks to a cool someone biggrin. It's funny i remembered something quite uninteresting and actually it's cool music, the piano playing is ambitious.

The bass definitely sounds like it's Prince on every track, much more than the guitar on track one & four which actually doesn't sound that much like Prince (but i wouldn't doubt his sister's word about it). I guess the "guitar" credits include bass since there's no bass credit.
