i thought Jack White is good, but then i seen his solos on
youtube
but the in the case of Jack W , word solo is insult to a guitar players who can really play.

White's "solos" sound like aborted desire to make some creative noise,
and if
i want creative noise i'll stick to Edge from U2
i understand why Lukather bashed

that Jack White guy althought i don't like lukathers mastrubatory
style
But to say Jack White can play guitar solos is insult to every guitar player who can really play.

I have seen Prince, Page, Clapton, Beck, Satriani, Vai, Van Halen, Guy, Santana, May, Perry, Slash, Gilmour, Schon, Winter, just to name a few. I have been lucky enough to see the White Stripes 5 times and the Raconteurs once. Jack White is one of the best I have ever seen. He is definately in my top 10.

Been meaning to ask, and this seems the ideal thread for it: Is "Come On" the only Prince song to feature slide guitar on it?

I am not sure if it is the only song with slide on it,but I do know that Kat is credited with "Bottleneck acoustic Guitar" on the track.

a

Nels Cline rendition of Maggot Brain! No one can do it the same as Eddie Hazel but Nels has some amazing chops nonetheless.

Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

I saw the video you posted and I have to agree with you the playing on that video was crap.
It was quite a strange video to be declaring his best live solo's.

What about Steve Vai? He is known for being a great guitar player. If u don't know who he is he did a song called "For the love of God". It is really beautiful.

I like him more than Satriani. He's weird in a good way.

I like Vai more too. I have seen them both and enjoy Vai's playing much more. I believe this is one instance where the student surpassed the teacher. I saw Satriani at an Experince Hendrix show(tribute to Jimi) and he sounded pretty bad trying to exchange blues licks with Buddy Guy. He was out of his element, but I think a great guitarist should be able to play all styles.

Vai is brilliant. Not someone I listen to a lot but one of my favorites.
