Love it all...Prince and anything in his path has a good love about it. If something is gonna cling to you, it might as well be Prince music. cool

Live:

Never been a fan of the crammed Lovesexy medleys. 90 odd seconds per song is not my idea of fun.

Generally a bit too staged for my taste. I prefer a touch more spontaneity.

Album:

At it's best; great (Anna Stesia). At it's worst; embarrassingly bad (Glam Slam).

Agree. I am not impressed by the music from these shows. To messy. Visually it is of course very entertaining and the album is very good.

Best tour I ever saw.

Album good, but less so than it's predecessors.

Man- Yeah, I had more interest in his way of thinking around this time than since.

I wholeheartedly agree. I thought Prince made a big mistake releasing this instead of The Black Album 20-plus years ago, and I am still of that opinion today.

I thught it was a very wack release coming after the great Sign Of The Times. What a let down. I was expecting great/greater things.

Only over time have I come to appreciate it.

Totally agree. Lovesexy is when I started drifting away from Prince and his music. In my opinion this album wasn't worth a dime compared to ALL of the previous ones he had released. Maybe Anna Stesia stands out.
Lovesexy = aftermath of EXTASY intake???

No. Cat and Sheila were sexy as hell in that band, but that's about all I can say for it. The album was a joke. Unprofessional all the way around. Is it artistic, maybe, but at the end of the day. It was an acided out mess.

This was the first Prince record where I could clearly tell something was missing. I could not figure it out at the time, but now I know: Wendy and Lisa. Lovesexy is not as mature musically as Purple Rain or anything else from The Lisa Coleman Era (we really should call it that) biggrin . The same is true for Batman, but Lovesexy is really bad in terms of it being a pop album from a major music superstar. I don't know how Prince convinced Warner's to release it. As a fan I enjoy it for what it is, but it really is one of Prince biggest mistakes of all time.

Lovesexy sucks ass. It's got one single good song, When 2 R In Love. Otherwise it was a major mistake.

And this picture is so horrible! Eric Leeds is the only one who doesn't look like a complete douche.

Lovesexy is a lot like this picture.

Terribly put together DIY project for Prince. Absolutely horrible design.

Competent musicians for sure, and nobody telling the genius "NO".

Self-indulgent to the hilt.

Has not aged well!

I love the period, I love the look, some of the look was messy(pre Graffiti Bridge style)(post Sign o the Times) the colors and too much letters were a tad bit distracting (even though I had a coat with my name on the sleave as a result) yet it represented the album feel of being thrown together.

Many of the band members said they really didn't know what Prince was trying to convey by Lovesexy or the theme of this album.

We quickly see the negative results of the disolving of the Revolution, Sign o the Times was them riding off the high of the 1986 and previous era. SOTT of course being 50% Dream Factory, and 2 songs work with the Revolution:Slow Love, It's Gonna Be a Beautiful Night

I loved Cat's look for SOTT not as musch for Lovesexy
I loved Sheila's look for SOTT not as much for Lovesexy, and you can see the wear of the times on her body, she looked sickly (rib cage showing, coloring didn't look healthy)

I love the look again, the tour was too much of a medley, the band was too scattered on the stage and it lost that visual connection for me.
High energy though, they might not have believed in the album concept but they did believe in Prince. The aftershows from Parade & Lovesexy were the best.

my favorite songs from the album
Alphabet St
I Wish U Heaven
Positivity

I don't think it was the most fem part of his career,

Some would say it was the Prince-Dirty Mind years, some would say it was the Slave period, which I agree
or whenever this was

But I believe Prince is at his best when he is freely masc/fem
