Maybe, this question has been asked before, but since I'm new to the forum and have recently come back to Prince's music after an over a decade absence, I would like to know why people have stuck with Prince after all these years (considering the discontent of many fans on this site!), have recently become fans, or have come back to Prince's music after years of not buying it? For me, I'd have to say that some losses in my personal life and then MJ's sudden demise made me think about Prince's music again, and decide that I had better listen to and appreciate (or not) someone's music I admire while that person is still alive and performing! What is your story?

Prince's music is sort of like a spiritual thing to me. Not saying I worship him or anything like that, but his music is just an important part of my life. No one has ever moved me like him. I do listen to and appreciate other's music, but I just don't get that feel that I get from Prince's music.

yeah i started listening to prnce alot more when MJ died,
i was like 'ok most of my favourite singers and musicians are dead,and Prince is very special to me and im not going to take him for granted'

I think a lot of people feel that way, especially those of us who were around during the whole MJ and Prince cultural explosion in the 80s, and were really into both artists' music! But I am so glad that people in their teens and twenties now value both artists' music!

The live performances for me, his studio work is lacking but he still kicks everybody's ass live!

im gonna be honest i started getting more into prince after MJ died

i became a fan of Prince around April and on that time I was a freak of Michael Jackson songs.i mean really. then Prince music is not like MJ, is so different, don't give me wrong i love MJ songs, been a big fan of MJ since November of last year. but Prince songs is soo much better, the thing that makes me love Prince songs more better than MJ is his lyrics. he writes his songs, not like MJ #1 hits were written by someone else and sometime with him and some else. started to be a freak of Prince on May. injoy his music while he is still alive. cause i know, and this is truth, when Prince dies, is going to happen again like MJ, people is going to hearing Prince again, and starting hearing like him now.

Came out of the Closet with Lovesexy as the soundtrack of my life. Prince could kill my family and I will always revere this time in my life!

He is allways making me Crave ..And Yearn, inspire, make me smile, cry, think of Love, GOD, Life..Passion...
He is allways true 2 himself..even if that means either looking like a fool 2 some, or loosing some in his life. I respect him as the MAN and Artist as he is. There will never be another musician that will take me higher..or that i can connect with on soo many ways..

The passion he has for his music is contagious and his live performances speak for themselves. What a gift!

MJ's death made me realise that I had forgotten artists who I had grown up with and once appreciated. Whiel today's music might be garbage to some, I've always been heavily involved in music and sought every kind of music imaginable. With success too. I don't regret having been away for all those years. I might not have listened to or possessed what I do now if I had only stuck with Prince.

But now that I've caught up with a backlog of Prince's music, I am impressed, in that, as his directions have changed, they were similar to changes I made in what I listened to. This means that his new music (to me) fits in perfectly with what I like and I notice that in my absence, some perfect gems have continued to be made.

So I'll stick with him now because he has enriched my musical library and I have faith that he will continue to do so.

His music is just a part of me. In over 25 years Prince has outlasted a husband, 3 lids and a lot of jobs. What else is there?.

Music fills your mind, your heart, your home.

When you have listened to Prince for so many years, his voice and music become a part of your atmosphere...The Vibes in your home know him...Prince makes my house, feel like a home.

For me....Prince's music speaks to my soul and heart unlike any other artists' music that I have had the pleasure of hearing. Prince's music does something to me...gives me a feeling that no other music has given me.
To me, he is the best musical artist...others may disagree, and that is fine. But for me, the way his music speaks to me, personally...there could be no better.

Because he really gives me wonderful music all the time why would I not keep coming back in fact I aint bin no where just here waiting and knowing it will come - thank you p x
