It was in Minneapolis, at the Metrodome. I was there, and was with a group of people who were asked to fill in the seats behind the stage (previously had been blocked off). We could not really see any of the performance, but saw all of the behind the scenes stuff. There were dozens of boxes labeled that they were the old symbol tambourine, but they never left the boxes. My first Live Prince experience!

If the concert is a sell-out, they will usually sell the seats behind the stage for dirt cheap. As they should be, since you can't see shit. At least you can listen to the music. He also played Baby I'm A Star that same night, but it was not originally televised until much later on a Friday Night Videos special.

Yep, it was at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome as mentioned above. International Special Olympics - July 19th 1991. Didn't Prince play a couple of songs on that occasion?

It was at the Dome, but I did see LoveSexy at the Met Center in 1988. If anyone goes to the Mall of America you will be standing in the area where the Met once stood.

Most folks don't notice the chair from the Met Center hanging way up on the wall near the log ride.

Yea he played "Diamonds and Pearls" and "Baby I'm A Star" with the 1999 intro. I think they originally only aired "Diamonds and Pearls" on the telecast. But I do remember the show Friday Night Videos had a Prince night and they played the "Baby I'm A Star" performance maybe a year or two later. The version of "Diamonds and Pearls" just KILLS any other version of it. Rosie's vocals and Prince's guitar solo were fantastic.

I remember Arnold Schwarzenegger on Jay Leno promoting this telecast saying that "Prince did another one of his wonderfull performances".

This D&P version feels more complete then the studio version.

Totally. I remember hearing the studio version long after I had worn out the Special Olympics version (recorded with a boombox placed next to the TV speaker biggrin), and just feeling let down. Same thing with "Cream" and "Daddy Pop" on Arsenio. The live versions just SMOKE the studio versions. But that's classic Prince, I guess. Taking live versions to another level.

I never knew that. Would have been nice to see. Especially a version with a deeper voice.
