I JUST SAW A PER4MANCE BY PRINCE THAT MADE MY JAWS DROP ON THE FLOOR!

OMFG!!! His performance of Baby I'm A Star at the Grammy's 1985 omg I have never ever seen an artist rock the stage like that!! I was staring at the floor in awe after watching it.

Has anyone here seen it before or remember watching it live?

I'm gonna go a bit further and say it's the best performance I've ever seen. I just can't stop repeating it! the way he brought the fans on stage and went to the drums was awesome....i absolutely love the little head bopping breakdown he does with Brownmark and Wendy, also the Morris day/jerome dance he does with Jerome. Dude is having so much fun on stage and then leaves through the aisles of the audience. Prince is a badass!! G.O.A.T!!!!!

I was FLOORED when I saw that performance many years ago. It's the best Grammy performance I've ever seen by anyone. I know it made me even more of a fan too.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

You should have seen been there when he did it on the Purple Rain tour. Prince is an awesome performer. He's always known that people pay their money and come out to see A SHOW, not someone dressed in their street clothes just standing still stumming a guitar and moaning into a microphone, he Never disappoints. Never! although he's slowed down in the last years, he's still the best performer I've seen. biggrin

The whole post was on point but I'm totally feeling the bolded part. Thank God Prince isn't normal and boring like that.

It was ridiculous and the way he ended it by exiting the stage and through the crowd was just nuts

Prince was and continues to be one of a kind

That performance rocks! I have it on my DVD collection "TV Appearance 1980 - 2006". That Performance of "Baby I'm A Star" along with the American Music Awards performance of "Purple Rain" are simply perfect and instantly classic. True proof that Prince was the ruler in 1985.
When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

Of course I have, I saw it live but it was different then. I watched as a kid, and a fan, i didn't realize I was seeing a master at work. Now, many years later, it is depressing to me when I see the man so commanding of so many skills, depressing because I'll never be like that as an artist. Prince has done this many times in many ways for me over the years, sometimes by his dancing, sometimes his singing, sometimes his playing just a treasure of an artist.

puts that bullshit per4mance with beyotcha 2 shame

and when his shawl hits the mic stand and he picks back up, it hits him in the mouth!!! CLASSIC!!

at the end when he's trying 2 cue the band is funny cause i was always wondering, how can they c him with people in front of him dancing and taller than he is. u can tell that he got pissed that they missed a cue tho
man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

The whole post was on point but I'm totally feeling the bolded part. Thank God Prince isn't normal and boring like that.

The bolded part is pretty much what he is now, so that's the irony of the whole thing!! He just stands around strumming a guitar wearing a damn suit. He does NOT put on a "show" anymore. As I've said before, you could pretty much close your eyes at a Prince show and not miss a damn thing. Because there's just nothing to see anymore.

He's resting on his laurels of being an unheralded live performer from the PAST. When people (not us ardent Prince fans/nuts) say there's nothing like a live Prince show, they're speaking of his PAST shows/tours, generally from the 80s. Ah well...I'm just glad I was around to see the real/true Prince back in the day, AND have it documented in my "collection".

How many times does Prince have to repeat himself for you all to stop repeating the same questions? I ain't just talking about this btw.

But, anyway, Musicology tour and the o2 (even Vegas at times) proved full on that he brings it like a mothersucker! A SHOW!

You on Lotus? DMSR, please watch it.

Um, Prince has repeated himself for the past 7-8 years, so if he's gonna do the same things over and over again, he might as well choose more interesting things to repeat (i.e. the "show" aspect of his performances from the "better" concerts/tours). Again, just my opinion.

Try and get that 85 Atlanta vid of the performance. He actually jumps onto his piano with no hands on this song.

I take it your a man. If so, do you have those kind of suits that Prince has? Do you walk around in high heels or platform sneakers? Hey, maybe your a drag queen or a tranny and there's nothing wrong with that at all but my gaydar doesn't go off with you. So no, most MEN, including me, don't wear what he wears. Even if you're a woman, you more than likely not looking like him either, so don't play silly with me. lol

I don't know what show you went too but all the ones I went to, he put on a show. Besides, does jumping around and dancing automatically equal a show? To me, not if the singer or even rapper isn't worth a damn while singing and rapping and most of them aren't unfortunately.

I guess you want a cookie for your "collection". Well I never saw Prince in the 80's or 90's but since I started going to Prince concerts in 2001, he put on a hell of a show everytime I saw him which has been 11 times so far this decade. He showed me that he still has that fire when he's on that stage and he gives it his all which, whether he stands there or dances all over the place. The last Prince show I went to was in October & he didn't move around much but it was a small room we were in so he couldn't do much anyway. Even with that limited space, he was on FIRE that night and it was one of the best P shows I ever saw and that wasn't even a year ago. My friend saw P with me for the 1st time in 2004 and she's not much of Prince fan at all. She told me that it was the best concert she's ever into HALFWAY through the show, so you can't speak for non-Prince fans. When you have the gift of music like that, you can sit on the floor and just sing and still move people if it's coming from your heart and soul and that's what Prince still gives me and many others, including non-fans who see him when he's on that stage.

It may be somewhere in the forum rules. Check that part about not requesting bootlegs. It might be in there somewhere.
Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it.

LOL I know what he/she is talking about though
It's the performances, if you see a Grammy's or Award show now, it doesn't have the rawness not only Prince but most of the performers had, even the celebs got into, now they just sit and watch while the people they pile up front to act alive for everyone do the work
