Who cares if people want to judge Prince? People will never walk in Prince's shoes.
Prince has to live his life just like everyone else.

I believe we all have our Opinions, which are judgements, they just don't have any legal authority. Many people don't offer the root of their perspective before going out on a limb to say how they feel.

With opposing minds we can still agree to disagree on any controversial issue and associate amicably. A lot of the times we keep open minds and don't settle on concrete beliefs until we are older.

If we believe that through Grace, an innate relationship with GOD...We feel how we feel whenever we feel it...just because we do...In my opinion, that is where patience and compassion prevent hatred.

There is an old saying that goes something like this: We are all traveling at different heights and speeds from all directions. We are climbing 2gether. We have to respect those higher than we because they are our guides, and we must turn to those beneath us and help to lift them as we have been lifted. We must respect that those beneathe us are our children's guides. cool

I have no idea but maybe some of the folks take the fandom a bit too seriously. I'm way past my infatuation stage with Prince, I'm almost 40, not 16 anymore!

We are all here because in one way or another we like what the guy has done/is doing. But the little fucker does things to piss off people as well. And hey, he's only human, not a God like some people take him for.

My interest in what he has done differs from time to time but I am interested. I also like to hear what other people have to say about the guy.
And if this place was just a place to worship him...I would've never signed up. Thank god that a lot of us are critical thinkers.

I totally get you.
I'm nearing 40 as well, and my take on my relationship with Prince (and ALL artist I admire) is almost business like now.

To me, I'm paying for a service, and I expect a bit of professionalism to come with my payment. If I go to a concert, I expect the musician to show up on time, don't lecture me, and put on a show.

I no longer FAM out over anything they do. It stuns me to see full grown men (and women) who still kneel before their musical idols. These people are, as you say , only human--they make mistakes too..and we should be allowed to criticize them if we want. The only difference between us and them is that they happened to get really famous.

I still love being a Prince fan. But being a 'fan' means something different to me now than it did when I was a teenager with no other worries in life than when the next album was going to drop.

great post.

I had the pleasure of meeting Larry and Tina Graham, who taught Prince about the Jehovah Witness beliefs. Prince enjoyed what he has learned from the Bible, and he has shared what he has learned with some of my family members.

I am very surprised with individuals opinions about Prince. It's amazing how people are always judging others, instead of looking at their self in the mirror. I had the pleasure of meeting Larry and Tina Graham, who taught Prince about the Jehovah Witness beliefs. Prince enjoyed what he has learned from the Bible, and he has shared what he has learned with some of my family members. Dollwoman is constantly judging Prince, this makes me wonder are you an apostate? It seems like you are learning the Jehovahs Witness beliefs, just to put Jehovah Witnesses down. No one is perfect, how do you know that Prince does not regret some of the words in some of his pass songs? Maybe this is why he choose not to sing some of his songs, because he is a changed person. If Prince music is stumbling you, then dont listen to it. Why are you enjoying trying to ridicule and humiliate him. Also i thought this site was for Prince fans, so why are you on here. wave Jehovah God and Jesus are the most loving and merciful, yet sad to say humans often tend to be judgemental and unmerciful. Prince remember you only have to answer to God. He loves you and the organization is still his means of reaching us and teaching us. Ladychel comfort

I personally don't think many people on here are judging Prince.

Prince has his reasons for doing everything he does but at the end of the day we all form opinions on things. For example I don't particularly like serial killers or rapists. Does that make me judgemental?

I think most people on this site totally support Prince - you don't just accidentally get on to Prince.org!!

People are here because they want to be here.
Shut up already, damn.

I think people judge Prince because he touches on real things but in a bizarre way. I'm not doing the ole MJ/Prince comparison but where peopple judged him it was for bizarre behaviour but it was out of scope of what people relate to (Assuming any of it was true. People didnt go "I wouldnt buy the Elephant Man's bones" because it soo out of the realm of what they would even begin to consider. Prince however talks about sex in a blatant way, has spoken of politis and in his dealings is seen to be very business aware however successful or unsuccessful he is. Together they are things people would comment on in others and yet it is coming from this man in makeup and heels and presents it all in a way you wouldnt do down the pub. Prince is paradoxically in reach and yet very removed

OP,

I dont get why some people, like you, always seem to get so 'touchy' when his choice of religion gets discussed. The same i also see happening in here when his race / ethnics (and his stances on these subjects) get talked about.

It seems its okay to talk about / discuss / gossip every piece of hair on his head and every ounce he seems to have lost.
It seems its perfectly fine to 'make a bet' on who is his new girlfriend (or boyfriend) of the month.
It seems okay to 'bitchfight' over whether he needs a new hip or that he is just fine of with his walking-stick filled with his own jizz.

But when it comes to discussing a bit more personal subjects (subjects that also seem to influence his musical and lyrical output) some people get all 'shooked up' and declare it a 'no-go area'.

What is wrong with discussing these subjects? Why should discussing these area's be protected?

Maybe YOU think/feel/are convinced that these things are highly personal and not to be discussed, but that is just your subjective view.
There are also people here who dont (or just partially) share your view, and think issues should be freely discussed.
I respect you for your view, but you don't seem to respect people who don't share your view.
