file sharing is wrong, Prince is right in his fight against copyright infringement and bootleggers because he should be compensated for his work!

Do you think so?
Wasn't he compensated enough?
Does he release the stuff that we want/need?
Is (C) law fair at all?

nothing more than a thief, stealing his work if I were talking about listening to those shows, right now!

Duh!?

This is the first time he's truly impressed me in a long time. cool

All This Love alone is proof enough that he should've recorded the Elixir album himself.

Enjoyed both shows. Have to re listen to decide which I like best but 2 was definitely funkier.

The sound quality on the first show is stellar, anyone know the source?

The show it's self is prbably the most enjoyable I've heard in years.

So many rarely played tracks and new tracks.

Highlights are so many but I'm just loving Empty Room and All this Love.

I just he could have fit in a couple more Lotusflow3r tracks into both shows.

Spanish Castle Magic could have been replaced with Boom and Purple Rain with Dreamer. And I'm dying to hear Wall Of Berlin.

Anyway show one for me is a 10/10. Truly fantastic.

With the quality of both shows he could easily put out a stellar 16 track DVD & accompanying CD. This band is now in among my all-time favorites working with P.
Change it one more time..

I absolutely agree with this. I'm absolutely blown away by 1st concert - sound quality and the whole band interaction/ stellar performance.

I haven't enjoyed a live recording so much for years. Outsanding. prince would do real well to release tis. As is. No tinkering/ dubs.

It's that good.

All this love and Empty Room may be two of the standout gems but the whole concert was fantastic Imo cool

I was wondering about the good sound quality - 1st show I was standing in the front third to the left, 2cond show front third in the middle - both location the bass was distorted.

2scond show after two songs I walked back where the mixing guy is - sound was better but still had distorted bass.

But on the recordings I cannot hear any distortion - anyone else standing in the middle of the room and heard distorted bass (or am I too picky)?

Copied from the internets:

^ This version of show #1 is not soundboard - sources say it was taped from the balcony, thus reducing crowd noise, with high quality equipment. The 'announcer' was overdubbed to stop the plain wrong selling to fans of this release before the master is reworked and released (FREE) in Flac.

Neither.

Poster was acting like a masochist and restricting themselves too much.

The fact that the result sounds enjoyable has not everything to do with what REALLY went on. Can't you (multiple!) discern these things?
Maybe also a bit of taste is involved.
So listening does not do anything here. It's about the approach that mr P chose, the choices he made resulting in the way he performed the 2nd show.
Check the songs, check the titles, check the lyrics, check the subjects.

Have you actually heard these shows? Of course, listening to music to appreciate it is sooo last century. Over-analyzing ass orgers, some people. neutral

You wanna pick apart his setlist and pick apart why he chose to play certain songs and try to glean his motivation playing some songs twice, knock yourself out. Meanwhile, I'm going to continue to listen and enjoy two amazing shows.

these shows are fantastic, especially the first one. i love when he name-checks shania twain during either scandalous or insatiable after he says, "too many hits! shania knows!" i know she lives in switzerland. i wonder if she was there? "purple rain" is great too. and he doesn't even mess up the third verse with the "i think ya better open up ur bibles..." stuff.

I think this could well be the best thing since the small club 88.

I'm in love with the show.

I'm now also tottally loving the new version of In A Large Room with No light.

I just hope he tours with this band doing smaller venus and with set list along the lines of this.

I was 2/3 to the back and while the bass sound was the weak point in the mix, it wasn't distorted. Renato and Prince sounded best, John was a bit muddy, so was Rhonda. 2nd show was much louder then the 1st show.

Getting fed up with the whining about the setlists. These shows were NOT billed as two seperate, DIFFERENT shows, It was your own risk this would happen. Stop whining. Heard both shows today and they sound great. The version he's playing of PR these years is far superior to ANY other IMHO. If there is one song you might complain about I think it is Nothing Compares 2 U, D-U-L-L

Why is it that people just shrug and listen when they do take their time to dig into People magazine? (Or Bild, or Prive in other countries, you know what I mean)

Pffff.
The plans were to have three bands there.
The plans were to have different stuff on the stage for decoration.
The shows were billed as `normal` concerts.
The shows were within hours.
The shows were very much attended by foreigners (non-Swiss people).

Stop whining.

Stop ignoring any piece of context that even you should recognise.

Heard both shows today and they sound great.

Sigh. Did you read me previous comments(s).
What they sound like does not have much to do with how they came together (at this level).

The version he's playing of PR these years is far superior to ANY other IMHO.

PR was thrown in.
PR did not really fit in the 'original', untampered setlist for show #2.
PR has been played to death. Let it rest for a while.

If there is one song you might complain about I think it is Nothing Compares 2 U, D-U-L-L

Tastes vary.
He does not play NC2U as often as PR. It fitted at the spot in show #1.
Context is everything here.

Now stop wining and accept that there's people that are a tad more critical than you. Don't confuse your arguments and try to pay attention to context.

beatdeadhorse beatdeadhorse beatdeadhorse

Apparently, what has really ticked you off is a minor annoyance for others. Yes, the repeated songs were lame. Personally I could do without hearing Purple Rain, LRC and NC2U ever again. Did any of that ruin it for me? Nope.

You had a bad experience. Got it. Sucks for you.

I didn't have that experience. Sorry, but I enjoyed the shows. Yay for me!
