i never understood the hate for nps - think its a real solid album - songs like come on are way underrated.
anyhow...worst singing album - goldnigga i hadnt thought about - but thats a close one, though id struggle to label it as solely a prince cd. worst album in my view that is a proper 100% prince album in my eyes - rave un2.. just so bland (even tho it does have a few killer songs) overall worst afront to mankind - karma sutra. Wouldn't you love to love me? | |

It's funny that you mention Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic, for me that and Newpower Soul are kind of sister albums. I remember being extremely disappointed by both of them. At least with Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic around the same time we got The Vault: Old Friends 4 Sale which I enjoyed much more the two new albums. | |

I liked them both....could have been better but i cant complain... I think they carried forth the feel of emancipation....which is my fav... But since every one else hate emancipation I can see why people dislike the 2 following releases | |

i wouldn't count kamasutra since it's not actually a prince album,
is it? he doesn't even play that many instruments on it, does he? anyway, i've always liked the feel and atmosphere of most of his 'lesser' albums. i like large portions of New Power Soul (cause the good songs on there are very very good). first time i started actually disliking albums and thinking they had more cringe moments than actual good tunes was "musicology". that album has 3 good songs. i can't listen to the rest. well, i can, but i don't want to. and then he did the same again with "planet earth". a couple of great tracks but such a lukewarm mixtape kind of album that it just makes me scratch my head and think: the rainbow children.3121.lotusflower. 
why musicology and even more so, why on earth, planet earth?  and true love lives on lollipops and crisps | |

There are some good tracks on Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic. I was just really taken aback by it. It was supposed to be his big comeback album and it just kind of fizzled. He didn't do anything to reach a wider audience while at the same time he disappointed his core audience. | |

2 tell u the ruth..ANY Prince Album is better than the radio..but Chaos and Disorder really didnt get that loove from me...there are some songs i like..but i am not feeling it like all the rest..
Emancipation was awesome 2 me.!!! Mayte really inspired him..and he was very much in love with her..  and it showed in emancipation...it is crazy, i was Pregnant at the same time as Mayte..and i cried when i heard about their baby...our kids woulda been the same age
Grafitti Bridge was awesome due to the Message he was trying to convey..Elephants and flowers, and still would stand all time is absolutely beautiful** But my ALL TIME FAVORIE still is 1999!!
