Imago

I immediately liked it moreso than lotusflow3r.

But lotusflow3r took over in the end as it got better with each rotation.
MPLSound has too many tracks I skip (the ballads, and openning track for example). I also dislike "Old Skool Company" and "No more candy 4 U"... So that leaves me not liking much of the album.
I will say this doesn't mean it's a bad album. It's one of the best in a long long time. It's just that I don't like several of the songs, despite the fact that they are good songs.

Overall, he really did a good job on this release. The lotusflow3r package gives you way more than your money's worth for 12 bucks.

It's good, but I am not sure it's better than 3121, and I'm pretty certain it's not better than The Rainbow Children. I might put it third place though.

MPLS sound aint even close to Rainbow Children. Lotus blows it out the water from the jump in this set. 3121 was not all that to me mostly cause of corn chip Lolita.

Best of the decade
1- Rainbow Children
2- Lotus
3- Musicology
4- Mpls

I enjoy the album much more than I thought I would, but the first 2 tracks are pretty terrible, in my opinion. That said, I quite enjoy tracks 3-9! I'd put MPLSoUND in about the middle of the pack of Prince's albums from the 00s.

F.U.N.K would have been perfect instead of U're Gonna C Me

i agree with that

I don't think the production vales of F.U.N.K. would fit onto MPLSoUND. It just wouldn't sound right.

I think 3121 is hampered by track 2-3 and uneven/unpleasant production, But song for song it's pretty good.

I am not sure I'd pick Lotus over MPLSound. I am surprised to say it because I much prefer the style of Lotus, but I think MPLSound a is strong group of songs.

Romeoblu

I love the album.

I think it could do one song that was just a straight ahead pop/rock song, something like The One U Wanna C or Private Joy, maybe a few Keyboard solo's like on Head or Strange But True.

I really like the ballads but maybe one could go and a pop/rock song could replace it.

My individual song ratings

(There'll Never) b another like me 8/10
Chocolate Box 9/10
Dance 4 Me 10/10
U're Gonna C Me 9/10
Here 9/10
Valentina 9/10
Better With Time 8/10
Ol Skool Company 9/10
No More Candy 4 U 9/10

Best album since Lovesexy, as long you don't count The Black Album.

The last album I enjoyed as much as this was Chromeo's Fancy Footwork.

I agree with Riverpoet..."dance 4 me", "no more candy 4 u" are solid.. but there are 2 many fluffy ballads that brings the set down a lot. I think lotusflow3r is a consistantly better work.
