the whole thing's an oddity bordering on a marketing fiasco:

Include her project in a three-CD project that is launched with 3 nights on Leno and a 3-concert marathon that don't feature her.

And within a short period of her being filmed saying she was surprised to be included on the project, feed the public through your unofficial mouthpiece that she felt not only the opposite but that the cd set would debut at No. 1...

Meanwhile, Prince is trying to get the Target commercial advertising the project to be taken off YouTube, one of the few sites you can count on getting high rates of traffic from the key (young) consumer demographic.

Prince has been in the game far too long for the marketing machine to trip over itself this way. It's a head-scratcher.

You know what. I don't even give a damn if the album goes #1 or #2 (guaranteed if it doesn't go #1).

The fact that he's charted that high, and with a strong, solid, collection of albums, minus Bria's of course , is a good thing.

I was stunned when Musicology charted, considering its bland and rather safe collection of songs. This meant a large population of casual or non-fans who received the album heard songs that didn't even hint at his genius.

With lotusflow3r and MPLSound, you get much closer to the full spectrum of what Prince is capable of being made available to the masses. This can only be good for a forthcoming followup to this project, if he releases close enough to this release for folks to remember.


IMO, lotusflow3r is very strong. Almost as strong as his 80's art-rock albums.

prince is marketing Bria's in an excellent way. He knows everyone is curious about her...He chose to put her out in front of the camera at the best time...we will definitely see more of her...they will tour 2gether for sure. I wouldn't be at all surprised if she appears with him on the last Jay Leno show that he performs on 5/28
