NPGMC era - your favorite tracks?

U Make My Sun Shine is underrated, IMHO. I love the vocal arrangement and the melody is great. If this song was on one of his great records it would be viewed as a Prince classic.

These are my favorites from the NPGMC period:

1 - U Make My Sun Shine
2 - The Daisy Chain
3 - When I Lay My Hands On U
4 - Underneath The Cream
5 - Hypnoparadise

Yeah, there are some unlistenable tracks released during this period, but some gems as well. Anybody still listen to stuff from The Slaughterhouse and Chocolate Invasion? Have any faves?

I'm partial to Vavoom and Madrid 2 Chicago, if we're talking internet only releases.

Never mind, it's gotta be Xenophobia. That is a killer cut.

Oh yeah, I dig all 3 of those. Vavoom is a fun, funky tune.

Vavoom is a great pop record. It's not ICNTTPOYM but still it's cool. I'm hoping he does something similar with in production and delivery with 'feel better, feel good'.

Was Xenophobia ever released as a studio track? I have it on the ONA.. Live! disk but it didn't appear on the instrumental album he released, did it?

No studio version of Xenophobia was officially released, and I'm not sure that it has even been unofficially leaked.

MPGMC did release "One Nite Alone Live EP" - 5 track download which contained Xenophobia. A "One Nite Alone Live EP" (5 track promo CD) was also given to radio. One CD that I do not have in my collection, but would love to have.

I don't know the rationale in pulling Xenophobia for the lesser Xpectations track, except that Purps wanted to send a message. Ha ha, real funny Prince. mad

I believe that it consisted of the same tracks from ONA-Live, but without the overdubs.

There was never a 5 track ONA Live EP released for download. It was only given as a promo to radio.

The version of Xenophobia on the ep was different than the version on the ONA set. However, the other 4 tracks were added to the ONA cd.

Of that era, my top picks are:
Vavoom
Super Cute
High
Underneath The Cream
Xenophobia
1+1+1 is 3 (NPGMC track with Eric on sax)

'Super Cute' is one of my all time fav tracks

the ona piano cd, particularly the first two tracks...and I adore 'One Song'

'Y Should I do that when i can do this' also amazing

there's a change in 'Northside' that I really love, it reminds me of a parliament type key change...there's so much from that website that i loved!

The live vid to if 'eye was u're girlfriend'...and the one with prince playing guitar with maceo - we're gonna make it funky

happy days...i look forward to the new website! I used to love those monthly installments...and i won't have to leave my pc on overnight to download it all, unlike before when all i could get was dial up!

man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81
