You did not like Colonized mind because you say he has no rights to speak about politics...(the whole no vote/JW thing)
You don't like Chocolate box because you think he is trying to play what would be played in shopping malls...
You did not like Be like me, because of whatever reason (don't remember)
I cannot even remember what criticizm you gave the other songs.
But, if you will see the patter/point here...no matter whether he is singing like an adult, or trying to have fun..YOU have an issue with them.
And that is fine; However, why don't you stop listening? Apparently you can find nothing but fault in ALL of his newer work, so why do you continue to listen?
You look like an unintelligent fool by coming in here and criticizing all the songs, yet you keep listening.
I really do not care whether you like the songs or not. It does not bother nor persuade me either way.
Hopefully you don't think there are people that actually use your "reviews" to make a decision on the albums.

npggirl77 this is the first time I actually agree with you (as I am someone who is has not liked some of prince's more recent music), I see Wall constantly hating every thing that Prince does and always wonder why he still listens.

Well, It is totally cool if people do not care for Prince's newer stuff. There is nothing at all wrong with that, because of course, everyone is different.
But, when you constantly find fault with every new piece, yet continue to listen and babble on about it, it becomes a little immature, I think.
Anyway, hope you find something cool on the new cd's.

Well from the 30 second clip, CB sounds promising.
Like others have said, sounds fun, playful, energetic and is a nod to the past.
But it's really hard to judge a song by a 30 second clip. It's almost an annoyance more than anything. confused
Colonized Mind is great. Most of us can agree on that.
That Bria tune once again, from 30 secs, sounds promising. Neo soul kinda thing.
Give us some full tunes already! smile

Well I guess he did give us 5 or 6 full tunes aleady. Ooops. wink

A lot of artists only play snippets of their songs on their sites, myspace and whatever other sites they put their music on for fans to purchase. It sort of prevents people from downloading the entire song for free. I thought it was nice that he gave us at least 5 full songs already. So I guess you'll have to wait until it's available for purchase, then you'll get the full songs. Patience, patience.

I think Prince giving us snippets is the best thing he can do with the site right now. It makes people want to hear more to see if the song is worth a damn or not. Plus, it'll stop people from ripping the whole songs off the site like I had heard fans had done cause Prince knows how slick and shady some of his fans are. Prince can be smart when he wants to be and this is one of those times.

Chocolate Box is a fun song. And the fans that say P is 2 OLD to sing those lyrics??! P is all about the trim and 50 is young if you take care. lol Sheeez.. What should he sing?? I gotta box of bibles?

What makes the lyrics so utterly pathetic and laughable isn't that he's fifty years old, but the manner in which they're written and delivered. This fifty year old sounds like a fifteen year old girl trying to get her big break on some Nickelodeon sanctioned album/sitcom. There's nothing wrong with well delivered 'sexual' lyrics or come-ons but one would like to think a man who's old enough to be a grandfather would show at this point in his career some maturation or common sense and not sound like a desperate teen idol, following what they think is the blueprint to get played in all the shopping malls. Fergie is currently like Bob Dylan next to Prince.

I also love how since he's a JW he takes this sanctimonious road of not swearing, yet will pant some juvenile come on -- because as long as he's not swearing, he can lust all he wants, I mean, they might be talking about marriage, right? What a joke. It's like the Christian who thinks they're still being holy as long as they just have oral sex. Prince is the biggest colonized mind of them all. I think his ability to no longer think for himself is responsible for his PG rated music and lyrics. He's now got to shift his mind from its former free self to fit into the rules and regulations of his religion. As a result and so as not to say anything 'too dirty' or 'unholy... technically' he sounds like a teenager and not an adult, even though he's over fifty.

Any Prince fan that will complain about P's material being too sexual in content..I say: It's called a psychiatric institution. I would make my way there as fast as you can if I were you.

Yep and then those same people will try and justify why they didn't buy the CD when it finally comes out. That saying, "With friends like you, who needs enemies" applies to some people around here when it comes to doing something as shady and nasty as that. nod

True, and then they'll become the first ones to b*tch why he doesn't put out a new cd or music. lol

I was surprised he allowed that radio personality he invited to hear his music, at his house, to play the full version of the 3 songs we were able to hear from that station (103?) a couple of weeks ago online. That gave some people enough time to rip it off and now they have it for free. Then some artists complain why they can't make money from new songs they play on their site in full length. He should continue to only release snippets of his new music on his site, and not the full song. He should only play the full versions of songs from previous albums on his site, like he used to do in the reflection room at the former npgmc site.

What's so interesting in this thread is hearing people say things like "This is not how a 50 yr old is supposed to talk or sing about". My question to you is, how is a 50 yr old supposed to talk and what is he supposed to sing about? How should a 50 yr old conduct his or her business? Are most of you 50 or older to know how he should be doing things at the Half-Century mark? I got one even better, I turn 30 in March. How should I talk and conduct business as a 30 yr old? This enquiring mind wants to know. nod

Please. Nobody said a 50 year old shouldn't be allowed to sing about certain things. You strike me someone who is selective with their reading as it helps you set up the straw men you're so adept at creating, so I'll paste in what I already wrote to address your question.

Don't tell me what to do. Who the fuck are you anyway? I did not rewrite anything based off of what I asked. It was it's own post related to the topic. It went where it went because you had the audacity to tell me I was selective in what I read. Either you can answer my question or you don't but to try and say stupid shit and not expect a response? You crazy as shit. Then you want to go and call me and others "fams". Well the real "fam" in here is YOU. Coming in here always having something hostile to say not just about Prince (which is your right) but also about anyone who might be down with a little bit of something with Prince. You can't just answer a question with out being self-righteous or sarcastic with it. Nah playa, I can see it and others can too "Fam"! And then you accuse me of taking this off topic. If I did, you helped keep it off topic by responding to me. I must have done a good job then. Thanks for your help baby. wink

I thought you were ending this?

And yes, you are selective in what you read and what you not only write but more importnatly, rewrite. And I'm hardly hostile with anyone whether or not they're a fam such as yourself or a casual listener of Prince's music. Can you please pull up something hostile I said about another person? If you go back over this thread you'll notice a few names slung my way but I don't believe I've gotten hostile with anyone for their opinion. Or is disagreeing with someone who doesn't enjoy the Britney-Lite groove and lyrics of Chocolate Box 'hostile' by your very incorrect definition? Hmm, it couldn't be that you are being selective again with what has and hasn't been actually said, could it?

Simply know in the future that if you attempt to misconstrue things I've said, I'll continue to call you on it.

(I posted this in another thread but i felt i should include it here as well.)

Wall, you seem to have disdain for most, if not all of Princes latest music.

Your well thought out colorful illustrations to show just how awful you feel

his music is, makes us wonder why you are a fan at all? If u dont like it,

thats your choice but why continuously post same sentiments in

different words over and over? We already know how you feel and can predict

with some certainty what you will feel about any additional new songs

released. Frankly its hateful banter that negates any form of constructive

criticism and gets rather disappointing to read in every thread. I appreciate

music and having new music to listen to. Some I will like more than others but

I am along for the joyus ride that is Prince Rodgers Nelson. Be it sensual, be

it philisophical, be it spiritual, it is all part of the experience as a whole.

Take it all in or leave it be if it is too painful for you.

Peace and love

Purplecam dont waste anymore time with this dude. While I enjoy both positive and negative comments here on the Org,this person has a strange and creepy obsession with Prince. Between him, Bart and Sacredwarrior who keeps reinventing her username every week, I could only imagine what these people are like in person (yikes! eek )

back on topic. I'm not really feeling Chocolate Box. Just doesn't grab me, though neither did Come which grew on me, so I'll wait for the full version.

So far he's won me over with Colonized Mind, Crimson and Clover, Another ONe like me -which i didn't like at first but it grew on me, 4Ever, Wall of Berlin

There you go trying to manipulate stuff again trying to make me look crazy. Go back and reread what YOU wrote in your previous post.

Oh I said all I needed to say to Wall so it's a done deal in my book. Thank you, I appreciate what you said cause you are absolutely right.

These songs have got me amped for the new CD's for real!!!! biggrin
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that
