I have been collecting some live boots/concerts recently and I've come to appreciate some songs live that I never really got into in their album version. So wondering, what songs don't care for in album version that you love hearing Prince perform live.

For me:
Why you wanna treat me so Bad - Really don't care for the studio version at all, but he totally rocks this live with the definitive version of this for me at New Orleans concert in 81 i believe.

When you were mine - do not like the album version at all, seems to sappy and '60's pop. But the live version he performs always rocks especially the Lovesexy live version in Westfallen.

ATWIAD - Don't get me wrong I do like the album version, but his live performance with the extended jam ming at the end makes this a joy to listen to live.

Life can be so Nice - nuff said, and from the 1986 Detroit show, Bobby Z really impressed me with his drumming playing.

Housequake & It's Gonna be a Beautiful Night - Technically these were live recordings, but I much prefer the the live performance from the SOTT/Lovesexy tours.

Superfunkycalifragisexy - the album version is tolerable, but the sped up jam on the Lovesexy tour makes me crave a longer version of this on an album.

Nothing Compares 2 U - although Prince never made a studio/album version of this track, but if u base this on the Family single, the ONA version is a much better listen.

I've seen Prince in concert many times since 1984 and believe me, everything he does 'Live' is better than on the records, Everything!!

I think Joy in Repetition live is superior than the Graffiti Bridge version.

I actually didn't appreciate "The Rainbow Children" until I heard the songs live.

Interesting that you guys say that. I thought TRC actually suffered live; something about it all didn't work for me, which is really the only album I can think of that I would say that about.

My vote for songs that are better live would definitely include Shhh, Play in the Sunshine, and, when he really gets into it and does it justice, Little Red Corvette.
