Why do U think that "Cinnamon Girl," was banned ?

Why do U think that "Cinnamon Girl," was banned?

I remember the day that the video was released and the following day watching CNN talk about the song.

I don't remember their interpretation, and I wonder if it was the video more than it was the lyrics themselves.

The song is basically about a girl that wants the war between people to stop. I wonder if it was the quatrain...

Cinnamon Girl of mixed heritage
Never know the meaning of color linez
9/11 turned that all around
When she got accused of this crime.

~Do U believe that a girl praying 4 World Peace was accused of the antagonistic nature of 9/11?

Because it had references to the 911 incident, but it was not banned everywhere.

That is what I am curious about...I guess it was the video, although are we sure that is what she does? Or is it just a dream she is having? I can't remember the very end of the video.

At the very end of the video, the girl is sitting in the airport. The video is really about her imagining just what she's been "accused" of by others, due to the blanket reaction the 911 actions caused (which seems to have been pretty much the intention).

The song and video are both a message to others that not all of certain faiths are terrorists or such like, and a message to those that are being thought of in that way that they don't have to live up to those expectations all of a sudden. It seems many didn't quite get this, hence the banning in certain places (don't think it was banned over here in the UK, but there's such a lack of Prince music played over here you wouldn't be able to tell either way).
So look into the mirror, do u recognise some1? Is it who u always hoped u would become, when u were young?

Oddly enough about a week after Sept 11 happened I was sitting in a mall here in Tasmania and the elderly lady next to me sais "Excuse me, where u are from?" The relieved look on her face was almost funny..
One of my brothers was driving a Taxi for a friend around the same time and they have to have photo ID's displayed. A couple got into his taxi and the guy said," Ure photo looks like one of those terrorists...hey are u gonna drive us through the glass doors of the casino?" Then he laughed his ass off while his girlfriend told him that was mean.
My brother said he laughed as well, but it just astounds me how people make assumptions.
This all happened in Australia and we are not Middle Eastern at all, its just that we have dark (olive) skin, talk about a blanket reaction.

The phrases:

"...a holy war..."
"...so began the mass illusion. War on terror alibi"
"What's the use when the god of confusion keeps on telling the same lie?..."
"Militants bomb the 4eign guns. Both sides - children die."

exposed the corruption of it all.
I swear the words "HATER" is wayyy over-rated...smh

It is sad that people make assumptions, but in a situation like that...U cannot be 2 lenient either.
I was in Minnesota for the weekend of Good Friday, 2001, and I left on Easter Sunday. After September 11th I remember how I had tried to thank the cab-driver..with a handshake that was refused...and I remember him saying that he was heading off 2 "The Mall of America." A part of me didn't like him, and didn't trust his behavior either.

~However 2 add...I am from a town with a high Muslim population, and there is a difference between certain individuals based on their oridinary behaviors. I have had Muslim friends...We have just lost touch as I have moved, as I have lost touch with many people from the area. cool

I really liked it when it was released and I still like it, it is one of the few newer songs that I like from beginning to end. Very interesting video ( among his best, which is not that difficult considering some of his cheesy videos), great social commentary in the lyrics, nice guitar, interesting way of singing.

If this were an outtake or released earlier, or if it had different lyrics ( you know, more PATRIOTIC lol ) then people would go nuts over it.
It´s a great song, really.Right up there with one of his best social commentary songs, like Money Don´t Matter 2nite, Sign o the Times, Annie Christian, etc.etc.
" I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

Exactly where was this banned?
Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it.
