What does "Musicology," mean 2U?

What does "Musicology," mean 2U?

I don't mean Prince's song being fun to listen and dance 2. I'm talking about the concept of studying music and lyrix.
I know that in someone's life, there isn't enough time to be exposed to every song or every artist that has ever been, yet overall, there seems to be a thread that weave's the meanings of songs together.
In my opinion, "Musicology," or the study of the inspiration within music is like putting a puzzle together.
The answer 2 the puzzle points to "Heaven on Earth," arriving in our lifetime. Is that Ur opinion?

Just 2 add...Look at the meanings of Prince's songs, and how they total a grand idea of this happening. After all, if Heaven were 2 arrive, it would certainly come with music.

2 quote Prince..."It shall be written, It shall be sung." cool

hmmm The study of music maybe lol falloff No seriously when u listen to Prince's music you hear all of his influences. Whether it be James Brown, Sly & the Family Stone and yes even Larry Graham (One In A Million was the jam back in the day). Prince has taken all those sounds to another level and I like it wink

nurseV..I wasn't trying to limit this idea 2 Prince's influences. I am trying to start a discussion about Prince's overall message. What is Prince trying to say? What about, "The Everlasting Now?" Doesn't that song reveal creatively affirming "On Earth as it is in Heaven?"

I Love the song, "One in a million," however, beyond the concept of two people having the gift of loving eachother, this human weave of love goes beyond that personal gift.

Such as Three Dog Night's, "Joy 2 the World." or "Black and White."

There are even songs that refer to the celebration of this occassion such as: "Party all over the world." from ELO.

What about "Love Train,? OJay's. Do u see where I am coming from now? I thought we could discuss some of Prince's songs and how they reveal this concept, through what Prince has coined as "Musicology." cool

Musicology has a sense of epicurism/heavenly/and nostalgism. It's in a class of its own. Just listening to Earth Wind and Fire's ,,,,Let's Groove...share the spice of life....glide like the 747....loose yourself in the sky among the clouds in your heaven. Prince is consistenly covering "real music"....he is taking some of us back to expose us to the real music which is non other that "Heavenly"....our love. Thank u Prince for who you are and not what you do. Love 2 U

That's nice. I remember the "Epicurean Delight," from Philosopy...I can feel it under my skin. Ya know, "The Boys are Back In Town," Everybody's, "Working 4 the Weekend," kind of thing. EarthWind&Fire...So before their time...and still ever strong. I love "Blood Brothers." I just adore that kind of kinship, and Babyface singing, "Simple Days." I just feel the Muse in Music. Then U consider, "Dear Mr. Man," by Prince, and see that avenue of thought about the poorer conditions of the world, and how "Resolution." is the ultimate perspective.

All thats been said above.. Also Music is an art that can make you feel all diffrent feelings and is the only art that can take u back to a place in ur memory, be it happy or sad (if a song reminds u of sum1 or sometime etc) But what Musicology means to me above all these things is Respect for all thoses great gifted artists/singers of the past, Who have influenced the artists of today and of the future yes
