I would love to see the video 'hot wit U," since I really like this song.

Also, I would love to hear the full version of the Nasty girl remix version of hot wit u. I only heard snippets and it sounded like the jam.

Can I add something inflammatory to this thread...

I really, genuinely like Animal Kingdom! The way his voice is recorded is really interesting, and the middle-8 with the guitar and vocal harmony is really catchy.

First, of all, most of these bland, generic, plastic R&B type of songs Prince has produced WAY too much since the mid-nineties. Songs like:
- Two handfull of 'duds' on Emancipation
- The most beautifull girl in the world
- The greatest romance (Rave)
- Incense and Candles
- Beautifull and Blessed
- Mr. Goodnight
- Future Baby Mama

Second, most of the songs he offered to his 'female bed buddies': being Prince left-overs in the first place, ruined even further by girls with way better body measurements then vocal chords (Vanity, Appolonia, Elisa Fiorello, Carmen Electra, Mayte, etc.)
Luckily there were some exclusions from this annoying 'routine': Taja Savelle (mediocre songs, good voice), Jill Jones (great voice, great debut album) and women who allready had a career of their own, like Chaka Kahn and Mavis Staples.

Last, many songs on which Prince did let mediocre rappers take the lead. On his own albums the music sometimes was strong enough to offer 'compensation' for those poor raps (Willing and able, Get Off, Love 2 the 9's), but the album from TC Ellis (where is he now? selling BigMacs?) or the forced 'street-attitude' on the Goldnigger album are best to be forgotten.

Ah...well... to ad some more specific songs that pop up in my head.

First of all, probably the Prince song that annoys me the most. I am not sure why, but i really can't stand listening to it: Girl, a b-side from on the singles of the ATWIAD-album. Its just so.....horrible.

Second, Family name. Prince allready wasnt a top-lyricist, but the crap he exposes on this song is toecurling and irritating. The comparisons he makes sound way untilligent, forced, and show a lack of taste and comprehension.

The same goes for Muse to the Pharao and The Everlasting now by the way, musicwise these songs may be good, but the lyrics are so ignorant and stupidly brainwashed, it often urges me to (almost) break that whole Rainbow Children CD into two pieces.

Finally.. well... Mr. Goodnight... but I allready said that. biggrin

Wow, you don't like Rainbow Children then... I respect that. But I sometimes think (not necessarily your good self) that folk dis this album just because they don't ascribe to the jehovah message... I don't think that's any reason to discredit it artistically though. I'm an atheist, but that doesn't stop me loving the lines in Muse to a Pharaoh, particularly the rap part... it has some very clever wit, rhyme, alliteration, etc.

I like this song as well. But then again, I'm also a hard-core animal lover, so I could be a bit biased. giggle

I loooove the guitar part right before Prince starts singing, "Who told us we should eat the swine". That part of the song kind of sounds Stevie Wonder-ish.

Having said all that, I do feel that the "sha sha sha sha sha" part that Prince sings at the end of the song is a bit cheesy. I can understand why some folks dislike the song.

I love that song. My best friend on this site told me that he doesn't quite get why everyone raves about this outtake. Usually we've agreed on everything else on Prince's music, but that one leaves me confuse

When I first heard it, it was simply amazing to me. The only problem I sort have with it is in the 2nd verse where he brings the electric guitar into it. I LOVE the way he played piano in this song and wished he would stick with it. Probably one of my favorite outtakes that he's ever done. cool

My 5 most hated songs in order:

1) Raspberry Beret -- I hate, hate, hate this fucking song soo much! It makes me want to throw things when I hear it. Never liked it, never will...it does nothing for me but evoke feelings of rage and vomiting.

2) The Cross -- never could stand this song, especially since it gives him a reason to preach to people, which just makes me hate it even more. rolleyes

3) Baby, I'm a Star -- I would much rather hear more "I Would Die 4 U" than having it cut short for this song.

4) Little Red Corvette -- only way I can listen to this song and not despise it is if I hear the extended version with the 'ass like a limosine' reference...in fact, that's the only part of the song I like. lol

5) 1999 -- I didn't really hate it initially, even though it got waay over-played in 1999. I graduated from high school that year, so everyone had to play that song at every party I went to...that remastered piece of shit is what made me hate it.
