There is so much emotion when he sings it. It's the lyrics that speak to me. He may not have written it about me, but he wrote it for me. I am still here.

This song always makes me cry when Prince starts singing:
"I guess Soul Psychodelicide means death of the soul from psychodelic drug use" - mimiviz
I am my own unique individual, and not a stereotype. You betta recognize!!!! I'd rather be unattached and happy, then to be stuck with an idiot and miserable.

I love this song too - Only I think of my baby daughters when I hear it:
Dammit! I appear to have inadvertantly put on my invisibilty suit...

This has been my shower song for so many years. It's a great song to (try and) sing while bathing. It's time for us to move this forward.

One of my favorite Prince songs. I ended my wedding with this song, and my friend is going to have it be the first bride/groom dance at his wedding.

That's very personal. I can't see him saying that openly. I'll always believe Adore was written for Vanity. There are just too many Vanity references in the song. I remember back in the day Vanity appeared on BET Video Soul with Donnie Simpson. Donnie asked a lot of questions about P. Vanity answered very truthfully. Donnie asked who was P's woman? Vanity replied, "You know I don't think Prince has a woman. He can't just single out one woman." Vanity asked Donnie a question. Do you mean who owns his heart? She replied, "I don't know you tell me." Well P must have been watching. Because Adore was a direct reply to that question. In Adore P sings, "If you need me, I'll never leave" We all know Vanity was the one who left Prince, right when he needed someone the most. I can go on with Vanity references. But I won't. I'll just agree to disagree with you. Let's face it. P never really got over Vanity. And Vanity never really got over Prince. awwwww...I just wanna cry.

Yeah, we can definitely agree to disagree on this. P used to answer questions at the sound checks before shows on the ONA tour. Someone at one of the sound checks posted either on here or on AMP (don't remember which) that Prince was asked about Adore and said P said it was about Susannah.

Writing songs about chicks is fun. Ignore this post.
I don't need the encouragement. "Criticism is the laziest form of expression ." - some deep dude.

Prince talked to his audience, and people got to ask him questions. It was so damn cool! "I guess Soul Psychodelicide means death of the soul from psychodelic drug use" - mimiviz

When Sign O' the Times came out, after all the engagement rumours in ´85/86, I naturally assumed that lovesongs such as Forever In My Life, If I Was Your Girlfriend and Adore were about Susannah. (Also considering her placement in his thank you notes on the album. "Susannah period" - then everyone else). Years later people from his innercircle started talking and confirmed that these and many other songs were written about her And Prince himself has indeed confirmed that he wrote both Adore and Forever In My Life for her. Susannah!.... I'm not putting her down. She's cool. But listen to Lion of Judah it refers to Adore. Prince states, "I still Adore you, Adore you". He's making other references to Vanity as well. I won't be surprised that in the near future the two hook back up.
