http://www.youtube.com/wa...9ZKM-0bauM In my opinion, it sounds better on the turntable though. yes it does work.. and i agree it works better on tables. have you read my posts i said thats what i tried it on first... the problem was i had load one of my darling nikki track that had an error thats why i didnt believe u i have so i had to go the tables and do it that way so i did hear it then afterward i found a usable file and did it on my comptuer software and it worked. hey i really am more intrguied than ever with this now. ive heard this since i was a kid but never even messing around it didnt touch playing with this... my point is at first few posts i couldnt understand why the funk my software wasnt doing it then i did the tables and then i realised i had an error in a mp3 file. but its all good now so thank 4 bringing it up my drawers. blackguitartistz,who did dude has did threads bout this but i say again i just never wanted to mes with it. anyways u get it now what my problem was at first bad file. There's some folks on here that actaully own some of my stuff where at least on one track, there is a backmask. Ok, the Let's Go Crazy one I don't really buy into. I can agree it sounds like , "I was f@##&t" followed by indecipherable sounds then "girl stella" but you have to REALLY want it! Are you hearing something more (other words, etc) that makes it clear to you? And how can you be sure it's backmasking and isn't just phonic coincidence? There are no clues that there is something there when played forward (at least not that I hear). Help! I can't make anything out on 1999 at all. I always figured the "say say" was P telling Dez, JJ, Lisa to sing the chorus.  The reverse recording msgs such as on Girl, Darling Nikki, Baby I'm a Star are of course easy to figure out. Is One Day I'm Gonna Be Somebody backmasked or reverse recorded? I don't have a digital copy of that song so I can't hear it...
[Edited 8/31/08 17:01pm] The backmask on Let's Go Crazy is wicked...I can clearly hear "When I was a fa#@&*, there was a girl named Stella." Then he says something else but it's too hard to hear. With the rumors that always followed P about him being gay, there is no way that was coincidence. it's when he says "There's something else...the afterworld." The Time's "onedayi'mgonna" is the scariest one that I ever heard from Prince. The "We Don't Like New Wave" in reversed...man,, I was hip to hearing backmasking from since I was a kid with The Beatles and of course, Led Zeppelin. Parliament has a reverse thing on "Prelude" on the "Clones of Dr.Funkenstein" album. Ever since I was 8 and 9 years old, I could spot when something was recorded in a different way in music. I could hear it in Hendrix's solos, the ones that were recorded backwards. It was a different sound. And I loved it. It has influenced me greatly. Musically and lyrically. But that Time backmask is something else. It's hella spooky. Waaaay spookier than the Darling Nikki one. And what's interesting, they both include laughter.
