great dvd! he was looking mighty good.
his duet with nikki costa was VERY nice indeed.

i especially enjoyed the performance of whole lottie love...i just love it when he gets in2 tht song - i could listen 4ever!
i just revel in all tht weird trance stuff he does with his guitar at the end.
he goes all kinda angry with it & punishes it, slapping it a couple of times,
then the piece de resistance...he lays it on the floor & places a hanky over it.... eek

the ride was also memorable razz

This is totally wrong! But, I still watch that DVD like at least once a week, after all these years.

I love the long Jam that 1+1+1 is 3 turns into esp the bass and Drums part whilst hes playing rythm

It's not that bad but it is a bit cheapo -we're still wating for the ultimate concert dvd/video....for the moment the best remains SOTT followed by Lovesexy....

I agree. Was so disappointed by it, especially the sound quality which is so flat and boring.

God forbid...I know it's always discussed somberly about what happens 'afterward'.I hope Prince's family doesn't have major warfare over his estate and Prince's will is air tight. I would love to see some of the footage he has especially Coachella, O2, Musicology, Celebratioins, 3121 Vegas, aftershows, etc. I know he has some totally mind-blowing stuff. I gather he's like a coach in the NFL who watches the tapes to make adjustments and improvements to his game. It would be nice if he shared, but after he's gone the value probably increases tenfold. If he ever has kids (not like JBs who surface after he's gone) I'm sure they would benefit for years. As for Aladdin, its entertaining but I prefer LoveSexy and SOTT concerts.

I had to sign a piece of paper....saying who the dvd player belonged to befor me...and in this case...a male friend of mine gave it to me...

If you run any dvd through a player...It will record within it's chip...all that has gone through that machine....ah ha! I said to myself! cool

I don't get all the negative criticism this DVD gets on the org.

Personally i like the way it is filmed. Prince was obviously going for the 'live' feeling, like you are there with the people in front of the stage.

The editing is really decent. Many 'contemporary' concert DVD's are cut so fast and flashy, it distracts from what is really happening on the stage. I don't see that a lot on the Alladin DVD.

Finally, the sound of this DVD isnt bad at all. Okay, there are DVD's with performances that sound crystal clear, 'perfectly dolby', but most of the time from 'sleepwalking' artists like Sting, Sarah Brightman and Chris de Burgh. Not exactly musicians who create some excitement and creativity on stage.
To be more clear, most concert DVD's actually sound WORSE then Live at the Alladin, especially those dealing with arena concerts (DVD's from The Rolling Stones, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, REM and the Foo Fighters come to mind).

Personally my only real complaint with the DVD (besides the ...well... unneccesary performances of Nikki Costa and 'Pick up the peaces') is that its way too short.
Prince was really 'showing off' with his band around that period, as can be heard on the ONA-set.
I think the DVD doesn't do justice to that experience. A selection with the length of 1 1/2 - 2 hours and 30 minutes of bonus (aftershow) material would have been far more appropiate.

I really enjoyed the DVD myself. I have seen Rave, also a great DVD,but I haven't seen Lovesexy or SOTT. I wasn't even aware that their were such things. I have been working my way through what Netflix had to offer.

pray~ that's really cool that you got to go up on the stage. I am sure that security was ready to pounce on anyone that thought that they were going to get a liitle to friendly with P. whip

i would have appreciated it more if it was the whole concert and not just a snippet
man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

Loved his take on Whole Lotta Love, and that brief glimpse we got of his rendition of Love Rollercoaster. Wish there'd been more than 10 seconds of Money Don't Matter 2Night though.

That's what I was saying when I was there at the Aladdin. The DVD isn't bad but the fact that the DVD is missing about, I would say half of the show, is very disappointing. The DVD didn't show the Piano medley. They didn't show P singing Power Fantastic, The Question of U and other rarities. That makes me more sad than mad. With all that said, that was one of the best nights of my life, for real. Being at Vegas with Prince was just beyond amazing and even though a lot from that night is missing from the DVD, I'm glad that there was a DVD for the show at all and that it was officially released for all of us to watch and enjoy.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Go get'em! 'Sign O' The Times' is gorgeous! It is one of the best musical movies he ever made.

The 'Lovesexy Live' vhs' are great, too. But 'Sign' has a totally different feeling. It is a concert movie indeed, with acted parts that link the songs and the dark and eerie photography is very good.

By the way, if U like Prince's music videos and U surf the net, U cannot live without 'The Undertaker' (1993).
