Yup. That's his whole discography.

I'll throw in my 2 cents. Tons of his stuff is available for CHEAP used. I picked up The Vault for $1.50, Chaos and Disorder for $1.99, Emancipation for $6.99, Diamonds and Pearls for $2.99, Planet Earth for $2.99 (PE was still shrinkwrapped).

Look at Amazon and your local record store with used CD's. I was a little tentative like you. I have almost everything, now, except for One Nite Alone.. and Rave In2 the Joy Fantastic. If I was sketchy on anything (like Come, for example) I'd hunt for an uber cheap copy. I got one for 4 bucks. Now I think it's great and very underrated album.

I could live without the Black Album, however. It's just meh. I paid 15 bucks for a new one. If I had paid 5 bucks or less I wouldn't mind as much, but I still wouldn't really listen to it... maybe it'll grow on me.

I'm not liking 3121 all that much... I think it's THE most commercial and mainstream album he's ever done. Just hearing the beginning of Incense and Candles sends a cold shiver down my spine. I hate that Auto-Tune distortion. I might not end up liking 3121, but I only plunked down 5 or 6 bucks for it.

I despise Best Of's on general principle, but The Hits/B-sides is loaded with material hard to get on CD. It's worth it for disc 3, but discs 1 and 2 have 2 unrelaesed songs each.

If you do get The Hits/B-Sides, don't bother with the Girl 6 soundtrack. The only exclusive there is Don't Talk to Strangers... and I think it's boring. She Spoke 2 Me is on The Vault as a nicely extended version.

But what the Hell do I know? I type too much.

DO NOT GET CHAOS & DISORDER! It's GARBAGE! It's a throw away album JUST to finish-out his WB deal. A waste of time. Trust and believe.

This album I play and like the least, I have to agree. I like rock music, but not this. This is the only album that never "grew" on me, all the others have.

It's true though about horses for courses. I love The Rainbow Children. It's one of my favourite albums of his. Lyrically I couldn't tell you as I don't listen to or read them. I'm one of those types that when singing along just makes up wordy type sounds that fit.

Let me take a wild stab... Amoeba? Of course there are still dozens of music stores around, but here in LA Amoeba (and the internet) has pretty much wiped out all independent competition (unless it's a specialty store like hip-hop, punk, collectible vinyl, etc.).

And you quoted me, but no reponse. Am I being scolded? Praised? Neutralized?

I'm a little miffed.

Anyway glad to hear of your recent acuqisitions. I'm kind of doing this all over again because my rooomate has really gotten into my collection. He loves Prince except for Purple Rain (he got burnt out on it as a kid). So I've been secretly buying up the whole discography again to present him with a big 'ol surprise. I've managed to get nicer copies at lower prices this time by being more patient. Go figure.

They're not all shit. Purple Rain is a decent effort. Dirty Mind, Sign O The Times, 1999, and Parade are sub par but they have a few gems on them. Everything else is barf
