the rapping ruined this album from being a classic album. Every time i get 2 Tomy M.'s rapping i have to skip 2 the next song. the rapping was just cringing overall. The max worked because tony was used just enough 2 not be annoying. BOB4theFUNK | |

My Name Is Prince is a steaming pile of turd though. It makes me cringe hearing Prince try to sound tough and Hip Hop - it sounds so contrived. Blue Light, I Wanna Melt With U and The Max are throwaway filler... However, there is a lot to appreciate on Symbol. The ballads in particular... Damn U and Sweet Baby are two of his most sincere (and downright classy) slow jams. His vocal arrangements and harmonies on Sweet Baby are so intricate and yet they work so well. The Sacrifice of Victor is a great funky workout - it's just a shame Tony M craps all over it. And Arrogance has always been something of a guilty pleasure of mine. I would much rather read a post that said muthafuchia a thousand times than to read the words of a flushing opinion. What are you talking about? Someones looking to stir shit me thinks... |

I don't think that's so much what Tame is trying to do. I think at times, poor girl just can't help posting stuff that appears to be randomly geerated email spam from the Paisley Park email servers.

It's not perfect, as I had to edit shit, like the end of Damn U has got that irritating banter on it, which should have been another bleeding segue.
Same with the intro of The Max. That should just start with that pumping synth. As an album, it totally fell on it's ass, as the broken up soap opera idea should have been totally abandoned after he started cutting in it. Fuck the story, just go for a good collection of songs. Cuz that's what it is; a good collection of fun songs. | |
